300zx turboes
I found a website online that sells oem turbos from all sorts of cars. I was looking at getting a t25 from a twin turbo 300zx to fit on my megan racing manifold and dp. The turbos are in good shape but they are not rebuilt and are about $199 without shipping. But there are options like left or right side. Does this matter and both turbos are the same size right? Sorry about this being a nissan question but was wondering if anybodyt knew.

Im a Nissan guy and im in between projects. I was looking at getting a miata and therefore lurking around to scope out the community. I just had to respond to this post, as I feel I can set a few things strait.
The T25 off of the 300zxTT and the s13 (91-98) SR20det's are identical. A T25 is a T25, right? Now, im more if an inline motor guy and i hate all things "V", but im pretty sure the left and right turbos from the 300zx's are the same; the right side turbo is mounted 180deg, if that makes and sense.
All Nissans (past 91) and thier turbos respectivly use a standard flange. T3 or T4 I believe. Im not sure what, say the Greddy turbo kit would use, but front what Ive read in the last few minutes on this forum it sounds like Mitsubishi-type IHI turbos. I honestly dont know anything about them (i stay away from Mitsu's), but i do know if aftermarket turbo manifold manufactures copy Greddy, then no, yould need to have a T3 flange welded on. It's realy not too big a task though.
I wouldnt bother with a T25 though. If your going to go through all the trouble of building a turbo kit for a nissan turbo, then look into the later ball bearing turbos found on the S14/S15 Silvia SR20dets or the GTi-R (RNN14) Pulsar SR20det turbos. They are dual ball-bearing and are the basic turbo upgrade for us SR guys. A stock motor with an S15 turbo is capable of over 325hp without too much trouble. A bit much for a Miata, but you get the idea A T25 (which is non-ball bearing) tops out at about 250 on an SR. Once again, im not certain of what that means to a 1.6/1.8 Roadster engine, but its a good reference.

First, a T25 is not a T25. There are about a dozen common flavors. You are correct about the s13 and 300zx sharing the same A/R's of .48/.49. The S14 jumped up to .80/.64. I think they share the same compressor housings, but the turbine housings on the 300zx are funky 3-bolts outlets.
Since there weren't any USDM turbo motors except the 300zxTT past '91, I'm assuming you're talking about JDM SR20det and CA18det motors when you refer to "all Nissan's". Every stock Nissan turbo I've ever seen that didn't come on a late model 300zx used a Standard square T25 turbine inlet and standard 5-bolt turbine oultet... which is nothing like a T3 or T4. The early late '80's 300zx single turbo's were also .48/.49 but used the standard flanges, not the funky 3-bolts of the later gen.
I was running the .48/.49 version for awhile and saw 167rwhp at 18psi with crappy tuning and a slipping clutch. I'm sure that 220-240rwhp is achievable with that turbo and proper tuning... maybe a pinch more. I have yet to fire up my .80/.64 (this weekend hopefully) but imagine the tradeoff will a couple hundred rps's worth of spool, but more air per psi... we'll see how she runs in a couple of days.
The best place to find a .48/.49 CHRA/wheels is in the 2G DSM. They're available in working condition on half-a-dozen forums for about $150 but have the Mitsu turbine housing and will work with the Megan stuff. The SR20det .80/.64's are a little more expensive and you'll be better off forking over the dough for a Begi manifold. Try DSMtrader.com or sr20forums.com for turbos depending on your route.
I/we have found around here that a drawback to a stock T25 is that the internal wastegate port is small and causes boost control problems... either creep or overshoot... and needs to be ported (which is pretty easy and all the DSM guys do it) to flow well.
