Kraken Low Mount?
 

On a pure racecar, no ps, no ac, coolant reroute, and reason not to do the low mount? Seems like from a packaging and heat standpoint to be a better solution if you can run it?

My only concerns with the low-mount without P/S or A/C is the oil return hose to the sump.
1. Is it long enough to be flexible enough? Probably yes because no-one has reported issues with leaks and these should be easy to identify.
2. For high-mount EFR turbos, if the sump's oil-return hole is not 1/2" with an appropriate hose, it has been reported that it impedes flow and sludge builds up in the hose that can reach the turbo. I'm concerned that a short hose may produce the same effect, even with a 1/2" sump hole and hose.

While I haven't heard/read any issues regarding #2, it seems that it is possible.

Perfect timing on asking those questions...I, too, have recently been considering the Kraken low mount setup for a track-only car.

I'd be curious as well to hear other's thoughts in addition to what Lokiel provided.

I've been waiting on a low mount 6258 kit since late February. I think he currently has a good amount of stock now that he is finishing up the run of current orders but if you are considering it I would place an order ASAP to ensure you get in on the current batch. In the recent months Mike has really been putting a huge amount of effort into getting the kit fully sorted. He's added a custom mixing manifold that retains the heater core line and routes the lower rad hose out of the way, -an oil feed lines and the next 100 kits he sells are coming with a DIY -an oil return line setup.

The only pro I've heard for the side mount over the low mount is serviceability. The entire manifold/turbo has to come on and off at one time if you need to do anything to the hot side. There is 0 chance of getting to the manifold nuts or any of the water lines with the manifold attached to the engine.

From a maintenance standpoint, I would actually prefer the side mount for a race car. You'll be tightening and removing the manifold often, might as well make it easier.

You swear a LOT installing/removing the turbo, exhaust manifold, exhaust, turbo hoses and oil lines.
You swear a LOT more when it's low-mounted, limited access adds yet another level of difficulty.

Just bought one of these kits, my two cents is no need for water-cooling the turbo as a finned hard line oil w/ ram air ducting should be enough after a cooldown lap. As for removal/installation cutting the stock mounting plate for the airbox off the inner fender wall. But mostly I'm using the low mount for heat and a straighter downpipe and most importantly for even length for pulse control. Log style suffers serious scavenging loss from the pulses bouncing off of each other and going back towards the cylinder according to my research. Lmk if I'm wrong, because I want to learn more.

I am running a low mount. IT kind of sucked to plumb it all and it is a fucking bitch to get to the studs etc. with the motor in the car. Would go side mount if I did it again, but it looks nifty? Supposed to spool faster, but I am at altitude to spool sucks anyways.
