Largest injectors on stock 1.8
I'm currently in the process of piecing together a custom turbo kit on my 97 and my next purchase is going to be injectors.
I currently have a bone stock motor being run off of a Reverent built MS2. My question is what are the biggest injectors you can run with a stock motor but full standalone? My plan is to turbo it and possibly switch over to E85 depending on where I move in the next year and eventually build the motor. If I could just buy large injectors just once that would be ideal but if not then oh well. |
You can run any size you want.
Most tend to go with the id1000 |
Allofit.

I was originally thinking just going with 1000's but was worried it may cause some issue because wouldn't the fuel just be trickling out instead of being sprayed?
|
Not in the modern era using injectors designed more recently than 3 decades ago.

Modern tech is pretty sweet.
I recommend and sell ID1000s for most setups, but email me if you want a recommendation based on your specific setup/use. |
motor is stock, so shall be injectors.
I'd size them according to the power goals, and buy them only when that's going to happen. |

Looks like ID 1000's then. Thanks guys

One more question. Any reason why you guys recommend Injector Dynamics over DeatschWerks? Only reason I ask is because I've used DW's before and have good experiences with them and was originally going to go with their 1k's.

Because ID injectors have amazingly low open times. My 800 dws simply cant match that. Other than a little loopy idle here and there they run fine though.
|
I haven't used the DW injectors, but I'll throw in another vote for the ID1000s. I've been running them for about two years without a single hiccup. Their injector characterization and matching is very impressive, and they'll be more consistent down to very low on times as long as you have a matched set.

I used DW1000's back in 2010 and 2011. Sold them and switched to ID1000's and my life has been better in every way. My idle is smoother, can idle at 14.7afr or 18.1afr, my cock grew 3 inches, and I have your mom on speed dial now. My DW's required extremely high values in my fuel table on my MS3x that I was never happy with also.

truth
he's got your dad on speed dial too |
Meh i've been idling my DW800s at 15afr without issues.

I switched to ID1000's and these issues went away. I will admit the DW1000's I used were from 2010, so they might have been the old EV1 injectors or something. I think DW has switched to newer injectors but I am not positive. I myself will just not ever spend the money again to find out, when I know the ID's will work amazing. |
Hmm did you adjust your dead times properly?
