Awesome fab work.

SolarYellow510 01-04-2010 11:05 PM

Please tell us you ported the turbine inlet flange at the bottom of that beautiful merge. And made some kind of brace so the whole thing doesn't break off the head when it resonates at xxxx rpm.

Braineack 01-05-2010 12:27 AM

I like how 1&4 and 2&3 are paired.

SKMetalworks 01-05-2010 01:00 AM

I hate you. Not really but I think it's so awesome to see DIY that looks good, I wish I had the skill and shop to be doing that. Great work man!

No brace and yes to the porting. Theres no reason for the brace. Everythings 304 SS including teh flange and all the elbows are Schedual 10. Its extremely strong

lol itll be fine. If it cracks, it gets fixed. There are 6 other mani's similar to this that Rick has built and none of them have ever cracked.

I'd think you would have a lot to benefit by adding a mild steel brace for the little work it takes. The mild steel would allow some movement for expansion/contraction but ease the load on the runners when it comes to the harsh jarring from the cantilevered load. I created a brace using two pieces of small square mild steel tubing on each end with a solid rod in the middle, sleeved by the tubing. Cheap insurance?

That's amazing. Is this your own personal shop, or is that your business?
