OK,so my boys at ATP insist that I do this right. I'm catching **** from some friends as far away as Japan, so I found something that should make everyone here happy. Also get some of you god complex women to even help. I'm going to build this car from EVERY cheap ebay part I can find. I WILL however get either a Megasquirt or a Haltech ECU. Fuel Injectors will either be APEX or from the RX7, suspension is yet to be decided, BUT it will be a quality and tested product. Those will not change...THEN after the car has been built and tuned, i will start swapping parts out (with exception of fuel injectors, suspension and ECU) with parts "suggested" by people on this forum and my other friends that have 7 and 8 second hondas. After each swap a run on the track and a dyno. close notes will be taken concerning times, horsepower and over all feel. Because i will be swapping parts so fast I will not be able to research quality of products UNLESS they break right away. I have already secured a second engine just in case the turbo blows through it. research aint cheap boys...now here is your chance to really learn something and not hearsay. Im about to mythbust almost every story I can find. I may even start a youtube channel The carnage starts this weekend

your right about the net being a place to talk ****, but if you read closely I have not done any of that, I have made no claims of superiority, I have only outlined my plans. My plans also have no claims of producing anything special, just data. Where do you see me saying i have big plans of super speed, where does it show me saying I will have a fast car? From the start I have only wanted to learn how to break down an engine and build a turbo. I have read enough to R and R and have even learned some bolt on tricks in the last few days from reading other post. i come back here now and again to see what members are helpful and what members just like to talk ****. I have nice cars, I have fun cars, fast cars, but THIS is one i get to build and play with. Thought it would be fun to **** around with it and see what happens..unlike most, im NOT on a budget, so I can do just about whatever I like, does that mean throwing in a ls1, not really. It means I get to build and test ACTUAL research and not just reading it online. I also get to share that with people whom I figured would be interested in seeing the difference between an all out Chinese ebay build vs a DIY (the right way) version. This is just Entertainment for me, the car means nothing. Im sorry if this bothers you. I have a question, and try to answer this inside yourself first...... why do you care so much? How does my build experience affect you in a negative manner? Why does my happiness make you angry? If I choose to build a gremlin with a spoiler, how does that hurt you? I really didn't want to go 5 pages of bullshit. If the thread dies... so be it, in fact I kinda hoped it would, because all I see here is hate and not something I would normally see on a forum where someone was just trying to learn. None of this is new, and easily done.

I built my 9 second Miata out of nothing but Ebay parts at the recommendation of all my fellow Navy Seals who all have 3.5 second ¼ mile Eclipses. I was just learning and having fun, but now if I wanted to me and my Army Ranger buddies could build a 4 second Miata out of a 1978 Renault Encore.

Side note, how have we made it this far without one of these?

I love how he talks about his friends "owning shops" and being "professionals". It is almost sad how he makes up an internet identity to try and sound like he has the hook up. Hondas and Miatas have engines with very similar characteristics. You know, pistons, rods, and stuff.

I'm actually glad the platforms are so dissimilar, even if it means we have really rough running engines. I'd hate to have all of those guys over here every day.

If you're serious about the build, do it. You need to understand that this forum is full of engineers, math fiends and professional racers, not Monster energy drink brahs. We want proof, not ideas. We want pictures, not speculation. We want pink sheets, not conjectured estimates.

One learns by reading, not by throwing ideas and tough guy comments out. The "hate" on many of the "ideas" that you have is not from ignorance, but from experience. Miata's have been around a long time. So has this forum. We know what works, what doesn't, and how to spot bullshit. What you think is new, has been done before and documented. There's a good reason that some parts are recommended, and others bashed and it's not just because it's amusing to watch the new guy get mad. No one here cares for internet tough guy talk. We only care about actual builds and tangible results.

There, that should make up for all the **** I've talked to noobs this month.
