Lets play a game: Name that turbo kit! :)
This is the only pic i have of the car under the hood, its a 90 miata and thats all I know.
Can anyone identify this kit? Or perhaps provide me with any insight. Thanks. http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/1539/miataturbo.jpg |

It's an old FM from the Bell era. |
good eye.
now can you guys provide me with as much info as possible. as i said it on the other side, im looking to buy the car but cant talk to the owner or look at it my self. thanks. |
Cast mani, probably a 2554, long ass IC pipes, probably a bell mouth 2.5" dp. The IC is actually a pretty good one (tube & fin iirc). Only the owner can tell you more.

2554 is the turbo?
any idea how much this kit should be making... according to FM site hey have one that ICd, pushing 8lb making 160hp. sounds like a safe bet? thanks, and i think we might be doing some business in the future :) |
That would be referring to the turbo, yes. Probably a Garrett GT2554 turbocharger.
|
kewl. i read another thread and some guys are making 200-250 with that on 14lb of boost. sounds very good :)
thank you. |
is this the FM2 kit? not sure if thats possible to tell, but form my research.. the one before it.. the fm1 i gueess.. did not come intercooled? thanks.
|
I've got the same intercooler setup and yes it is a nice intercooler. But, the pipe routing seems like it was designed by a toddler with a crayon.

you have it on a 1.6? how much boost? power? reliability? also with the turbo, you guys are running full synthetic, right? thanks. |
I've got it on my Greddy turbo kit. It fits by adding a 90 degree coupler to the outlet of the turbo.
1.6 12-15 psi ~220whp Dead reliable, the pipes have a nice bead on the ends so they don't blow off. And yes, full synthetic unless you want to have to change your oil every thousand miles due to lifter tick. |
very cool. stock internals? link ecu? thanks.
|
Someone forgot to give that car
- new air filter(s) - more and fresh brake fluid Further, it has no PS, no A/C. It looks like an aftermarket radiator? |
that does look like an aftermarket rad.
how can you tell there is no ps and no ac. no ac is a problem. thanks. |
LINK ECU or piggy, probably a GT28R turbo.
|
It's a full Link. You can see the MAP-AFM adapter box just to the right of the clutch slave.
|
I wouldnt buy it unless it is really cheap. I follow the old saying that if it looks bad on the exterior, 9 times out of 10 it wasn't taken care of maintenance wise as well. The really low fluid reservoir, the clogged air filter and the overall dirtiness of the engine bay speaks volumes to me.
|
Yeah, definitely either a project car or a donor.
|
Clean that shit up, will ya?
