Link Obiwan & which wideband 02 sensor?

I'm a noob, and a lurker, trying to learn more before spending $$$ to turbo my 96 M edition.

Turbo bits are being assembled now. Son, an ASE Master Tech, tells me I need a wideband 02 sensor for the engine's safety's sake (my goal is modest power increase w/o compromising reliability; I'm too old to want monster power increases...).

I've seen a fair amount here, and elsewhere on the Web, re AEM and LC-1 wideband 02 sensors.

Anyone have any experience with, or tips concerning, either of these with a Link Obiwan? I've been running that ECU for a couple of years now (and still marvel that Miata didn't use a smarter ECU from the beginning - difference between stock and Link ECU's is like difference between pig and mongoose).

Appreciate any help...thanks!

Bruce

i would go with aem/gauge setup. that way you can glance at it anytime. i live at sealevel and when i go anywhere in texas i'm at different altitide, baro. pressure, temp, humidity, etc... to the point that i have to adj. my boost controller to keep the boost level i run the same.

I have link OBD II in my 90 with an AEM gauge. I just wish it showed AFR down to 10 to 1. It only goes to 11 to 1. It is easy to set up with the link.

below 11.0:1 is way too rich anyway. if it's below that you need to lean it out. 11.5 is safely rich and anything below 11.0 doesn't help anything.

Yes it is too rich. But it makes tuning easier if you know it is at 10.1 or 10.9 to 1 . When you are trying to get 11.2 to 1. Other than that I would say get the AEM. Very easy to set up and read.
