Default Mounting your turbo

Hmmm, how can I word this....

Are all mounts the same? In other words, will any t3 turbo mount up to a t3 manifold? Same with the t4?

If I get a good t-whatever manifold, will any turbo off ebay (say a saab turbo) mount up properly? What about the position for the downpipe. Do they all exit in the same angle or position?

hope this makes sense

nope, they aren't all the same. every different manifold and flange are different. If you got a BEGi manifold, an ebay downpipe won't fit. You have to find a match carefully, but if you're looking at saab turbos look for t3 manifolds. If you need more help let us know!

I have a used a 'few' Saab turbo's around-- not all are T3's--but most of the earlier 900's are.
If the turbo is used, clocking the turbine can be a PITA, but it can be done
You don't really clock the turbine, you more like rotate the center housing, then clock the compressor where you need it.
The turbine bolts can be a PITA to loosen, but aq torch makes quick time of that, just heat up the outer cast iron til the 'heat takes' it doesn't have to be glowing, the bolts will start to turn w/o breaking off the heads. Once you get a turn or two, stop, spray in some liquid wrench, tighten back up, then back out all the way..
