Default Non BB turbo that makes good #'s

So right now I am running a SR20 turbo at 13psi. I have no idea what rwhp I am putting out...guessing 230? Let's pretend I had a GT2560 and I upgraded to a GT3071. If I'm not mistaken the 3071 would make more power with less boost compared to the 2560. My question is, what non ball bearing turbo could I upgrade to from my SR20 that would have this effect? I has to have the same footprint and also fit my turbine elbow. I would like to find a turbo that is pretty common and make a safe amount of power (250-280) on 12psi. If I did this, I should still be able to use my 460's, right?

You could always put on a T28 from an S14 or S15 SR20... They are good for ~300HP @ 18psi. The early S14 (Zenki) T28's were journal bearing, but the late S14 (Kouki) and S15 T28's were ball-bearing.

I actually was looking for one of those, cause I'm pretty sure that CHRA will swap directly into my turbine. I don't want to run 18psi though. I basically want to leave my car setup the way it is, but if I could change the CHRA and compressor, and make more power just by doin that, then I'm game.

Here are the specs on all of the SR20DET turbochargers from 240SXForums.com where I'm a moderator. The guy who posted it is a good friend of mine and is very knowledgable about the content at hand:

That N14 T28 is what I am looking towards, except the turbine is different. The one I have now is from an S13 Red or Black top. If I changed the CHRA and compressor to the one from the S14 Zenki, I wouldn't gain a whole lot of hp. So let me rephrase my question: What journal bearing turbo (biggest one that shares my FM manifold footprint) would make the most power, say 275hp at under 14psi?

According to the BSFC calulations from the DIY sticky, the 460s max out at 255 HP. Someone else please check my math - it's early.

255 x .55 / 4 x .8 = 140 / 3.2 = 43.8 lb/hr x 10.5 = 460cc

The Pulsar GTi-R T28 shares the same T2 footprint on the turbine housing as your T25 you currently have. You would just have to buy the entire turbo rather than the compressor housing and CHRA seperately...

Math looks right... However, if he has a raising rate FPR, the injectors will flow more than they are rated for based on the fuel pressure increase they see from the FPR. You can calculate the new injector flow rate by this equation:

New flow rate = SQRT(New Fuel Pressure/Base Fuel Pressure) * Rated injector flow rate

SQRT = Square Root
New Fuel Pressure = Fuel pressure after FPR has adjusted based on PSI of boost
Base Fuel Pressure = baseline fuel pressure without boost

True story, but most people running MS opt not to have a rising rate FPR and just run the bigger injectors.

I run a rising RRFPR with my 460s for a few reasons, the main one being because it was cheaper than upgrading to 550s. Now I have an extra set of 550s and I'm still gonna keep the 460s in.

Paul is right... It really just depends on your personal preference on how you want to do injectors and such. I myself plan to run an Aeromotive A1000 FPR with my setup with a 1:1 increase. Should keep me out of the 1000cc injector range, for now...
