Default I can't search, hold my hand; I'm scared.

Anyone actually tried to push a stock engine to the limit?
I got 280bhp and ran that for 6 months before the oil pump failed :( worked well tho I have videos and rr printouts of the power and torque figures if I knew how to post I would

Are you talking about a Miata? I don't think anybody around here has done that.

I don't have a turbo or anything, but one time I ran it all the way up to 5000 RPM in second gear. What a thrill!

I make sure not to do that anymore. Gotta stay safe you know.

How, exactly, is it possible to get an infraction for "NECROPOSTING" when you start a new thread?

Warning for not searching, I can understand. Brain, have you lost it?

I was trying to figure out why OP would put that as his title. Sums it up perfectly though.

So i checked his bio. He has a 2001 turbo thats all the guy says.
I don't believe you make 280 at the wheels on any real dyno.

The Hustler well find you.

Ill post pics of the print out it was done at EFI-parts pretty awesome going in my books never thought it would even get there and before anyone questions the dyno it's proved a lot of the ford boys wrong sure they just think of a number and add on another 50bhp

That was at 20psi

The new engine is being build as I write this...

he's saying he pulled his motor and had it dynoed at 280bhp at a place called EFI-parts. He's pretty happy with the results and he made note of it in his diary; he was not expecting those sorts of numbers and he'll post the pictures of his engine dyno sheet.

Also, as a bit of extra joy, it proved a few Ford guys wrong because they thought the motor would only make 50 more horsepower at the flywheel with the attached turbo.

He performed his engine dyno with 20psi of boost*

And finally, because he was an absolute moron and ran 20psi on his stock motor, it has failed and he's having a new engine builded.

*unconfirmed, could have been the atmospheric pressure.

That's why you always learn more from failure than success. In failure, he learned that the stock engine can't take 280hp (which we all already new).

Unless your name is Leatherface24 and your dyno operator is applying PRS Correction to the data (Puerto Rican Standard Correction). j/k

So where does everyone get their info from?
I don't believe half the bull dust written on the net I wanted failure because then I know personally what happened and apply my research to new engines and apart people saying "it won't take it mate" without the reasons why and strategic failures for me isn't good enough! The engine worked fine however the oil pump was the problem and after a couple of hours found the oil pump gear look like they have disintegrated. So before I started builder a fully forged engine I now need to find a stronger oil pump or gears.

Love how people assume they know everything when clearly they don't....

I'm just going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume english isn't your first language.

If that's the case, then your written english isn't actually that bad.

All the info you need is on this forum.

You aren't doing anything that hasn't already been done by somebody on this forum.

People aren't assuming they know everything, but people on this forum generally know the answer to the question you posted because it's easily found, on this forum...

Stop posting, start searching through this forum. Look at peoples build threads, read the sticky's and faq's, etc. etc.

We get our info from countless other people boosting their stock bottom end Miatas until there's a hole in their block. Thought you were the first? Maybe in 1989 you would have been.
