Machining Pricing?

Hey guys,

I've got a volvo turbo flange that I need to get machined. The "lip" needs to go in order to fit onto my manifold.

Whats the average price for something like that? I just don't want to get ripped off! :hs:

You guys in the bay area have any recommendations on which shop?

thanks guys.

I'm not in the bay but many machine shops charge around $80 an hour shop rate for machining. It shouldn't take them an hour to face mill that piece and I would estimate them taking a total of 20-30 minutes to do that job. So $40 would be a good price for them to mill the inlet and outlet flanges. You should get the outlet flange done while you're at it so you don't have to use a gasket with the DP.

Shouldn't take more than 5 mins. I know which turbo you are using.. I have one sitting here next to my T25. You need that 1/4th of an inch machined off right? Don't let them charge you more than $20 IMO..

I actually had this done with my first turbo. I paid 80 dollars and was completely ripped off. Just make sure they quote you before you drop your turbo off. I think 40 dollars would have been a fair price.

Have you checked atpturbo? They actually sell an adaptor for the Volvo turbo.
