MBC - how do i plumb it ?

hey guys.

i'm almost there. so anyway i bought this stuff second hand. see this device that is t'd off the pipe from the wastegate accuator thingo - well i'm assuming it's a mbc ?

now the thing is, it has a pipe running to it. but no pipe on the other side of the mbc. do i just leave it like that, or do i need to run a pipe from here, to somewhere else??

i have everything else pretty much sorted and understood in my head, but i'm unsure about this one. sorry if this seems stupid, but it's 1am in the morning and i am fried. been working on the car all night.

The boost controller needs to between the boost source and the WG or actuator. I dont know how that one is set up though so just plumb it in between the WG and the Boost and abit of trial and error should let you know wether this was correct or not. I am glad to see you got off your Ass and got a Snail though :bigtu:

First you need to determine if its a bleed style or a ball and spring. Looking at it I would say its just a bleed style regulator from Home Depot... or a Turbonetics or HKS manual which are the same thing.

Anyways if its a bleed the way you have it now will work.

Might want to check the tightness of the vacuum lines without the zip ties though. Maybe look into some properly sized vacuum line if those are loose.

It is setup like that. There is a hose from the comp housing to a T, from one port of the T to the MBC and the other port to the WGA. They way it is setup the regulator is bleeding pressure from reaching the actuator.

ok, thanks guys. what you are saying makes sense, it's seems pretty straight forward now that i look at it after a bit of sleep..

i'll just leave it as is for now then, but tighten those hoses a bit.

ok couple more things. how the fuck do i get this mani to bolt onto the engine. how am i supposed to get a spanner in there? should i take the turbo off the mani first? i'd rather not, but if i have to, i will.

it's an avo mani btw. i have heard they are a tight fit so anyone with experience wiith these suckers, welll any help would be appreciated.

the second thing is that there is a bracket for the coolant line that slips over one of the mani bolts at the back of the block. i'm not having any success getting this bracket to go onto the bolt once the mani is on. i just can't get it to locate, there is no wiggle room . there must be some tricks to get this stuff to work,

I've always installed mani first, then turbo. Never tried to install both at the same time, and I still have trouble getting to a couple of the bolts. I had to grind down that coolant line bracket to make it fit.

ah yeah, ok i'll gring it down. thanks for the tip.

so i hafta pull the turbo off. bugger, oh well.

Uh oh fatty! Did you have that bottom coolant fitting modified to accomodate the bottom mount avo mani? I think most if not all the guys running this mani had trouble with the compressor housing fouling on that little sucker, check Juffa's thread on a-ct.com...

Glad you worked out your boost controller though!

nope didn't mod the bracket. it's fine as it is, it doesn't foul on the compressor housing. the problem is tho that the rubber hose that runs off this bracket gets in the way of my intercooler piping, so i've ripped alll the hoses off and i'm gonna try and find another hose and run it from the bracket straight to the rad, instead of going thru that peice of metal pipe attached to the wheel arch (i've ripped that metal pipe off too).
