Default Miata > S2000

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know how potent a 11psi setup can be. The other night I came across a Supercharged ( Vortech SC w/ water IC ) 01 S2000, and he wanted a piece of my miata sandwich. We had about 5 runs or so from 2nd gear to the end of 4th and every time I was about 2 cars ahead of him. This was completely impromtu, he just pulled up beside me downsifted and motioned that he wanted a race....lol. Me and my friend who was driving with me (SR20 S13 w/ a GT2871R @20psi) were just like WTF, and then we all raced...it was really neato.

He said that he ran a 13.4 @ 109 in the 1/4 ( 2.4 60' ), and made 307whp on a dyno. My car was running 11psi on pumpgas, with just a moderately sized GT3271 turbo. This shows you how potent our little cars can be. I might be making 250-260whp and the lightweight aspect of this car just makes that 250 feel so nice I hope this post is permitted.

Just a quick question, why did you lower boost on your setup?

nice kill!!!

You do realize that that is pretty slow for an s2k. A kid I know has an s2k with just a big shot of nos and he runs 13.3 all day. I just though a full vortech set-up would be faster.

S/C S2000's are fairly slow, i guess because they have such high compression...like 11.0:1 or something. however i have seen some T/C S2000's that whooped some ***

not to knock you or anything, Andy..still a very nice takedown

Andy would also have to reopen to post twice after they got closed by the owner of M.net himself. Plus he was a stupid dumbass that gave horrible advice that I always made a point of going back in and correcting.

As much as I like s2000s I hate the tourque curve!!! Way to use it towards your advantage!

Yep- I was the same way. Drove my pal's first gen. Looking forward to it after hearing him rage about how quick the car was. I kept waiting for the torque.

Nice kill. I thought a supercharger would do something for an s2000, but I guess at 2800lbs, there's still a lot of metal to get moving. Where was the sr20 s13?

The centrifugal 'chargers in the Comptech and Vortech kits for S2000's only mimics the stock car's power delivery...actually, it even exacerbates the feeling, what with its quadratic boost curve. That's why so many people are clamoring for BRP's S2000 kit with the positive-displacement 'charger's linear curve.

aaaaahhhh- centrifugal. The S2k needs torque... though I got a similar empty feeling from the NC Mx5.

You do realize that it was still running the 1/4 with a mph of 109mph too right? And his time would have been in the 12's with a decent launch..( 2.4 60'). Dont talk to me like I dont know what fast and slow is....

I run lower boost on pump gas. I dont ever run 15-16psi on anything but race fuel, which is easy to find around here for 5 dollars a gallon in 110.

Is the race fuel in your area unleaded?

I don't have that problem with water/alky injection.

Nice kill! Makes me wanna hurry up and finish my project, though I won't be running that big of a turbo. I was just thinking GT2560R, but after reading this, I may have to at least step it up to a Disco Potato!

Sorry to get side tracked, but nice job!

Honda engines were'nt made to provide substantial torque, The can however create Loads of power however they still lack in torque capacity...psssht hondas ultimate sport car , More like overpriced ultimate facy looking, underpowerd piece of poo with good handling, miata still handles better . I've seen turbo miatas on road courses who rape these guys for fun.

You can add a turbo, supercharger and nitrous on a s2k, There will be a large increase in horsepower yes, but for the money spent, but an assortment of other low-budjet turbo heads who built their cars for half the money will still take a nice warm load on ya!

Hondas can have torque, they just need to not use shitty forced-induction devices like centrifugal superchargers. I don't know why you'd ever want one when you could have something like this for the S2000: http://www.brperformance.com/Merchan...Category_Code=
