Miata Turbo Shuts Off
#23
So I flipped the whole thing around and put the BOV where the hose was connected and the hose where the BOV was previously connected. I have not adjusted the T-fittings yet.
The car still wants to shut down even after positioning the valve after the throttle body.
As I said above I am embarrassed and I guess I deserve all the comments above, this was my first turbo build. Thanks everyone for the help though.

there's no difference between that and how he has it plumped (besides the in/out port being used on the BOV [which itself hardly matters--people reverse those valves all the time]).
this is exactly the same.

After looking at the first post, I realized he has a 99. The idle valve looks to be there and it does not need anything coming out of it for air. So assuming it is plugged in it should be working.
For some reason I though you had a 1.6 so I posted a picture of my 1.6 idle valve. You have a 99 so you can ignore my picture. The thing I circled in red in your picture is your idle valve. On the other side should be a 2 wire plug that goes into it. Make sure that is plugged in.
Also what are you using for timing control? What are your AFR's when you are in boost?

Hey guys,
Sorry for the late reply but after switching the position of the BOV and getting the same results I gave up on the car for a while. I came back on here to read up on a few threads and came back to my own.
I decided to do what others were saying and moved the MAF further away from the BOV, previous to this I had the car only pushing 2-3 psi since that's the only time it would stay on at times. After moving the MAF away, I went for a nice spirited drive and the car did not hesitate at all. No shutting off at all!
I even decided to raise the boost and readjust the Voodoo Box as per instructions, I am now safely running 6-7psi with no sort of problems besides a small oil leak where the dipstick tube goes into the block. Already ordered the O-ring for it.
Thank you so much for everyone's help. I am overly excited and can't wait to fix this small leak and take her out for a much needed, longer drive. I am forever grateful to you all. haha.
