Micro-Mini Project
Added a hi/low boost switch and a port for my USB cable.

are you doing dual maps or wastegate/ebc?
just cutting the ground from the solenoid, fails to wastegate. easy breezy. I dont run closed loop boost control and dont want to for dual maps. And considering my low boost setup would be 0%DC across the board....
I love shit like that. What panel is that?

That's very cool. So when are they available?:)

When you spend the $11 for the mountable usb cable, and $1 at radioshack for the switch. Then you invest the 30 minutes to make it happen. I also had to cut two USB cables to make a male/male to fit into the port and my laptop. |
Never thought of any one would use that panel for anything. Sweeeeet!
Pretty neat. I would probably have put the boost switch in the blank for the defroster though.
Thats a cool idea, I like it! :D
Curious about the USB port though.. What / How does that interface with? |

My MS is tucked away next to my stock ecu. I had a cable that would come out by the passenger seat to hook into. When the laptop is not in the car, I have to tuck it away, now I can simply plug it in there. No cables laying around when not in use. |
no chance of accidentally hitting it with your elbow?

works perfectly:

yeah yeah. it's really just for rainy days and when my dad drives it. I can easily spool it to 10 pounds without trying at part throttle on the highway, and since my auto TB is still sitting on my dining table....
here Joe, this make you happy? Variable TPS ready to be installed this weekend, finally got around to it:
http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects/auto_tb.jpg not before I port it slightly and shave the butterfly arm down of course. |
not cool enough i see...
Should've half shafted that bad boy. Good enough though, better than no porting at all.
I'm still working on it. It may not be pretty, but exactly, better than none at all. In the least I got rid of the lip just before the flapper.
aiight, i think im done. removed more material and smoothed shit out. if i gain 2% more flow, that's 2% more flow.
Before: http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects..._notported.jpg After: http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects..._ported004.jpg http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects..._ported001.jpg http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects..._ported002.jpg http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects..._ported003.jpg Basically here's where I removed: http://www.boostedmiata.com/projects...ed_compare.jpg |
I guess you're never removing the butterfly valve....
Aren't those rivets and not screws? I don't remember.
they are screws. and i haven't removed a butterfly in 13 years since we owned our '93, why would i start now?
you guys nothing about no DIY.
Sexellent!
Great idea with the boost controller switch. I now must do that too. |
LOL @ the picture :-)

good boy! im doing the same as you already know :)
It's in TPS finally working. I had to perform a few open heart surgeries on the TPS unit itself to get it to work. First the pins on the connector did not make contact to the wiper paths on the inside. Then the wiper brushes themselves needed to be readjusted. So far good. Now to play with TPS stuffs....launch, TPSdot, TPS boost, etc.

engine and i just got a new dremmel so i went for it... |
Blah. I had it working this morning was able to play with launch control....then it stopped sending voltage again. I need to get a new TPS unit, my surgeries were unsuccessful it seems. the brushes are too fubared.
launch control is really fun btw. |
it sure damn is, glad you're playing with it now :) i will have to figure out a way to make a switch for my launch control.... wanna school me via PM brain?
i figure if I keep the TPS switch at 75% or so I'll never activate it.
well i heard you're suppose to run it according to the clutch switch on the car.... and with 100% on the floor with the clutch pedal down, you activate it...
what's weird when i do it is.... ALS activates when it wants to, which is weird. my foot's all the way down on the clutch and if i hold it for a while... ALS activates, and i can't deactivate it.... sorta why i want an actual switch i can flip now lol |
Is your neutral safety switch keeping it on?
i'm guessing, i dunno... it's a funny symptom that i CANNOT solve! sometimes i be switching gears on the highway or i have a habit of holding the clutch pedal down in traffic, so the MS activates anti-lag.... and after it activates, it doesn't deactivate! i gotta literally turn off the car, and turn it back on! (in mid highway speeds in neutral sometimes) i've even tried to do a launch with ALS on and as soo as it hits 3000RPM (the level i set it at) it bogs and retard, causing me to go nowhere after 3000 lol...
if it helps any scott, i have the 1.6L w/ on/off TPS.... |
