Mine is bigger than yours!

This is my turbo, "Hello turbo!", it will east you alive. That is a pic of it on the BEGI manifold. Sadly, after taking it out to my car to get a more realistic look at the fit, it will not with the BEGI. The compressor housing of the Holset is a bit larger than a comparable garrett and I would have to notch off about an inch from the frame rail for it to fit. Even then it would be a snug fit. So I have asked Steph if she would accept the manifold back, and I will be placing an order for the ETD short. It should fit perfectly because of the way the ETD angles the turbo up. I know you're saying to yourself, "that turbo gives me penis envy." Well it is a big turbo but its a good bit larger than a comparable Garrett turbo. This is a HE351CW and could probably be compared to a GT3076R. The compressor housing has a cool little ebc sticking out of it that I'm taking into lab on Thrusday to see if it is compatible with MS ebc frequencies. The turbine housings of Holset are measured by volume and not A/R. This turbo has a 9 cm^3 housing which from what I understand should be comparable to a .48-.55 A/R housing. So like I said, it looks massive and it is, but its nice inside and isn't that what counts? :) OH BTW, the turbo cost me $225 and doesn't need to be rebuilt. ZING!!!! Brian |
I almost got one of those turbos locally for 100bucks... it fell through :(. Instead i got another diesel turbo with upgrades for 80bucks... gave to buddy for his Dad's truck though.
For anyone else who has looked into Holsets... its basically a HX40 coldside with a HY35 hotside... and one of the smallest diesel hotside housings they offer. It'll take some time to spool... but once it does... holy crap. |
Das a hooj bish!

What was it you called the turbo "lag" the other day on AIM? I think it was "traction"....:P |
weaksauce.

Needs more 20 psi and 9K rpm specs :p
|
I kinda want to say the coldside (hx40 sized) is similar to a gt35 coldside... off to find the information.. within a gigantic thread on HT.

I like the plug replacing the front waterneck in the head. Your turbo is definitely bigger than mine.

Holy shit is that from a submarine or a huge dam(not damn) waterpump?

I'm thinking NOS is required.

Well i have no excuses, but i've never been to Fontana Dam, nor do I know where it is. I figured it was a damn turbine though i've never seen one. The only dam i've been to is centerhill dam and rock island.

This used to be in the chemical plant I work in (we replaced it with something that looks like a turbo). I guess even chemical plants upgrade from SC to Turbo...
EDIT: I posted the picture before I noticed that it was 256K in size. I removed it. If you want to see it go here: http://www.lightweightmiata.com/misc...percharger.jpg |
you will be a killer car on the hyway!!!
|
Brian, from the looks of thing, you're going to surprise some people when they finally see your dyno results.....:gay:
can you say 300rwhp at 10psi at 9K??? with power from 4.5K to redline? |
We use electrical centrifugal superchagers on our air bars at work but they are no where near that size.
