Minimum AN line length? Oil filter relocate.
I want to get some opinions on this, I kinda think itll be okay, but in the back of my head im really worried about the engine twisting too hard and ripping those lines off.

Im not a fan of having the oil filter in the top of the engine bay, so i want a nice easy to get to place from the bottom. Ive seen somebody in some oil filter relocate thread mount their filter here and I think its a great spot. I also decided to add an oil cooler so I used a thermostat plate right before the filter and ran oil cooler lines through the sway bar mount and around the radiator. I have stiffer poly engine mounts, but the fact that i constantly miss 2nd to 3rd tells me that the engine is still moving around a bit. Those lines have almost no give in them when you try to wiggle them up and down (the shorter one especially). The actual mount for the relocation kit does flex a little bit. I cant seem to find anything online about how short these AN lines should be, but in my head it kind of looks like it might be a problem in the future. The only other things I can do here is find some annoying way to loop the lines around to give some slack, use a different relocate kit (the current one is circuit sports), or just suck it up and put the filter on the firewall. Please tell me im over thinking this |
That short hose is almost a solid link.
I would change the 45degree fittings to straight fittings, then make the 90degree fittings on the filter point directly to the rear of the engine bay/parallel to the frame rail. This will make the hose take a sweeping 90 degree bend and allow for movement in all directions. As the straight fittings are shorter you’ll also get a slightly longer hose length too. For added piece of mind you could change to speedflow 120 series hose as it is a lot more flexible than the stainless braid. |
The routing in your tiny pictures will not work. You are not over thinking it. Redo it with longer lines.

Your suspicions and worries are correct.
Between torque and bumps the motor moves a huge amount. As pictured you will brake a fitting or line at the worst time. Use "much" longer lines with at least 3" of flex, if not more. Of course I'm used to Sebring that will break anything. |
