Mods for MSM...?

OK, before I get flamed for not searching... I have and found different answers all over.

But I have a couple questions.

I know FM makes good parts for the MSM, but are they really worth the price they charge or do they just charge that much bc they can? I'm looking to replace all my intake parts including the FMIC and piping. I havea buddy that does really damn good fab work and I'm just curious which route to go. Have him fab some stuff up of actually buy the FM parts.

Also, I have been told that the max boost I can push on my stock omputer is about 9psi before it just dumps fuel to compensate for the boost. Is this true?

I'm only wanting about 200whp and I know I can achieve this with simple mods. But I want to be safe and reliabe as well... just looking for advice guys!

Thanks!

They charge because they are huge and can do whatever the fuck they want.
To be honest though they do make good quality stuff so, while I'd never buy most of the parts they sell, I wouldn't tell others not to.

If you can make it yourself you will pay a fraction of the price.
After that get an ecu cause your stocker sucks.
Then injectors
Then you'll get addicted and want a bigger turbo.

then bigger

:D

You could always do the lazy route and cut the stock ic pipes and put a larger core in. I just did this on my dad's car and it worked well. Here is what i followed:

yeah i ordered a 27x8x2.5 (not core size but total size) FMIC tonight... for now i am going to cut the stock piping and wrap the soft lines in black gorilla tape (i know i know its ghetto fabbed) but its temporary

Intake is the most restrictive area on MSM. Let it breath and get better engine management.

Get rid of the stock piping. It rusts and you dont want that crap getting in your engine.
After that, Intake, 02 mod, 305cc injectors, Manual boost controller and 3inch down pipe and exhaust.

Yeah a buddy of mine is going to be doing all stainless (i wanted aluminum but he cant weld aluminum) hard lines for my IC and when I can go without a car for a couple days he is going to fab up a 3in downpipe and exhaust for now...

I did order a FMIC as well so hopefully soon I can have some fun... lol

I looked heavily into this when I was going to upgrade my girlfriend's car. Then I realized that it was her car and not mine so I changed my mind.

Just buy good FM or BEGI parts USED. That way you won't have to fuck around with fitament. A lot of really great package deals come up on mazdaspeed. For $2000-$3500 you can rip and replace the whole turbo setup and exhaust and get a good ecu.

I would beg to differ. i think the biggest block on the MSM is after the turbo. DP/Exhaust

www.corksport.com I really like their exhaust for the price. A lot of the local MSM guys are running them. the I/C intake kit seems nice to. My friend hopes to order it this year. I would just do the Egay intercooler and cut pipes if it were me.
