my completed turbo pictures. version, uh, 2. 56k death.

new thread because this isn't a build anymore... shit's done.

it got me to work and back today (25 mi each way). only issue? the front brakeline came loose at the master cylinder. "ummm why does my brake pedal slowly go all the way to the floor? why is it doing it again? why is my brake warning light on?" easy fix, burnt finger, a 10mm wrench, and blue brake fluid later I'm rockin and rollin.

So naturally since I had brake fluid EVERYWHERE, I had to clean up under my brake booster. and since I had to clean there, I cleaned my engine bay. And since I had to clean that, I figured I'd detail my engine bay. I picked up a sweet technique somewhere using Meguiars Super Degreaser and Hyper Dressing. Spray on, rinse off. Spray on, leave on.

Then I figured I'll just wash the damn car. So I took pictures of the whole shmeal. 56k can lick my nut.

STICKER LOVE. Black on Black.

We'll have to go roll around town when I get out there in August. Two street terror Miata just mean 2x the fun.

Ah...there are acceptable excusses...like I'm in college and it's finals week. Literally. I cried...almost :gay:

m2cupcar 05-08-2007 10:44 AM

yeah, but if you're that close you could run over for the free good at lunch and share your excuse with everybody? I would. :ughug:

MX_Eva 05-08-2007 11:38 AM

I'll see, it depends on how many more papers I have to write and how much 3D animating is kicking my ass. Hopefully it won't be too bad and then I can stop in and cry about how I still don't have a suitable turbo. I'd hate to do it, but I might just buy strait from AVO...they probably want some rediculous amount of money though.

I don't know if you guys have looked recently but they have a clearance on their old kits, it includes the piggy back with fuel and ignition control inculding 5th injector and O2 tuning and even launch control. It's really cheap as well at 620 dollars for full retail (for the piggyback anyway)

If he's close to DC, he aint too close to the 2 hrs from here dyno day. of course 3D animation can be done on a laptop... and we'll all have OUR laptops...

MX_Eva 05-08-2007 10:05 PM

With Maya?! Sweet....jk

I've already commited to making it up there for a bit this weekend, me and my GF will rock with you guys and go karting. Funny because then the weekend after I will be going to a RX meet at Severna Park (where I live.) which includes 7's and oldschools like 3's. Then in the same day go to a MR2 Dyno day with my G/F (Who has a 2) in Gaithersburg. Y8s you could probably meet up with us at the MR2 meet and stuff, there will be a "cruise" afterwards I'm sure we'll be the only 2 Miata's there.

y8s 05-08-2007 10:46 PM

I no longer have my 3SGTE toting celica alltrac.... ;)

Kelly 05-08-2007 11:22 PM

Looks great.............but what is that big ol donkey dick that the Greddy Type R is connected to for?

MX_Eva 05-09-2007 12:17 AM

Haha, funny because I was actually looking at the number of people going, all tracs almost outnumber the MR2's.

I'll be so very jealous this weekend. >_< Someone sell me a T25 that's in good condition and isn't rediculous big!

that's corky's donky dick. I'm not quite sure. I asked for the flange welded to the throttle body inlet pipe and that's what he shipped to me.

to be fair, it doesn't hit anything there but yeah... maybe I can saw off about 5 inches and have it work.

akthor 05-09-2007 10:00 PM

FINALLY I get to see it in all of its awesomeness instead of random pictures here and there. I love this car. Just about everything about it. Its a shame you're getting rid of it, but then I never knew you had is as long as you did. Just hope new owner takes good care of it.

Scrappy Jack 09-11-2012 04:10 PM

So this car is really just a headlight and paint restoration away from pretty awesome*.

And properly running engine?

y8s 09-11-2012 04:26 PM

I'm probably going to attempt a headlight polish sometime in the near future.

I am not going to touch the front bumper, but may thoroughly wash and clay the paint and do a quick polish and protect. Potential buyer wasn't concerned about the bumper but I could probably have done that for about 500.

Engine runs fine and has excellent leakdown numbers. I'm going to drive it to work tomorrow. All it needs is the 90k service done. I'm going to bum some garage space for that soon.

Keep spraying the lights while you sand them. Some people just dip the paper in a water bucket and that's not enough wetness.

I use a mixture of cream wash and water in a spray bottle. Off the top of my head I forget exactly what grit paper we use, but I go through 3 stages, then polish, then wax. They come out tits every time.

Maaaaang either thats a tiny waste or you sit against the door.

Subbed for the awesomeness.

18psi 09-11-2012 07:31 PM

headlight buff/polish is easy peasy. get 1500 or 2000 grit and a soft pad, and buy one of those Mothers headlight kits sold at Wal-Mart for like 15 bux. Throw the little thing in a drill, and polish that shit in there at like 1000rpm never stopping in 1 spot too long.

Just did a 2 sets last week: takes all of 15-20 min and I'm slow

waist? no it's not terribly tiny. it's the way the wallet sits in my pocket. the corner of it wears through my pocket and whatever's under it. Some of my old pants have holes thru the pocket.

Bogz looks like an inverted penis and the fact that I recognize that makes me uncomfortable in my workplace. Stop sexually harassing me.

Also, maybe you should rethink the upside/downside of your stainless steel wallet.

you've thread (scrappy) jacked me good.

bogs will remain because he's obscurely disgusting.

also the original stainless wallet eventually cracked (it's VERY thin and I guess you can't carry 10 $1 bills without stressing it) and I got it replaced with a leather-covered stainless wallet. It's been much kinder to pants and seats.

Sidenote: Stewart/Stand has redesigned the fold hinge to be more forgiving of ... strippers I guess so it has a better bend life.
