I have a few questions..... :)
Even though the temps were close, what about humidity levels? How long ago was the AVO data collected?

The weather in the San Jose area is well, like Groundhog Day in that sometimes weeks go by and the weather's the same. The humidity was... dry as always. The AVO data was collected a few months earlier. There's no doubt in my mind that the spoolup is a lot slower than before, because even early in the morning when it's a lot cooler the car still feels laggy in the 3000 rpm area.

Jason, here's what it'd look like if you ported the T25 flange on top of the T3 flange....

JasonC SBB 07-10-2007 05:49 PM

You're talking about if they make the mani for a t3 but weld a t25 flange on top of the t3 flange, correct? ETD said they would use a t25 flange to begin with.

y8s 07-10-2007 06:07 PM

wonder why they didn't offer me that option. @#($*

JasonC SBB 07-11-2007 12:52 PM

Maybe they didn't have that option back then?

no, it's about the cast mani. read the whole thread and you'll see.

I did read the whole thread, Jason says he got the new "direct pulse manifold" and per the begi site that appears to be it.

Jason am I wrong?

y8s 07-14-2007 05:36 PM

trust me, it's the cast begi unit... the one with the divider wall to direct the pulses.

No differences in tuning?

yes you are wrong, there is a big difference between cast iron "directed pulse" and tublaur stainless steel.

None whatsoever.

Stephanie Turner 07-16-2007 12:34 PM

What downpipe were you using before?
Stephanie

JasonC SBB 07-16-2007 02:50 PM

AVO.

I have a feeling the BEGI d/p helps the topend, but the AVO mani gives the better spool.

i'm really liking my avo manifold as well. it seems to spool nice and fast, even tho i am using a pretty old non ball bearing t25. power delivery is great at the moment because the air is so cold here at the moment , seeing as it's the middle of winter. it was 6 degrees celcius today and the car felt fantastic. no real lag to speak of... i imagine it would be amazing with a newer fast spooling turbo.

3barboost 07-17-2007 05:46 AM

not to hijack but does anyone have comparative data on the BBR turbo manifold from the UK its a cast manifold that places the turbo very low on the block

where does it fit in between BEGI / AVO etc
