my new toy: the build thread!!

After finally selling my "slow" one, Last friday I bought a second owner 1990 Miata locally with original matching hardtop. The gentleman is 82 and just giving up driving a manual, talk about one very cool old guy. Odometer indicates 171k miles, but about 40k of that is from towing behind his RV with the driveshaft connected. Compression is solid but the A/C needs a recharge. Has some rock chips from being towed and a few scratches, but a good waxing will do wonders for it. The interior looks great after cleaning it up awhile, it even still has the factory stereo and speakers. Also came with some loud Flamm horns.

I already have the manifold, turbo, intercooler, injectors, BOV, and the standalone. About all that is left is for the downpipe fittings to arrive from ATP and pick up the remaining bends from a local vendor, then have it welded up. I will be installing the Link ECU tomorrow with the injectors and running with a base turbo map only utilizing the lower fuel rows until the turbo goes in. A buddy who is running a Haltech in his Miata will be helping me, should be a piece of cake for him in comparison.

Suspension is still stock, have some springs and shocks on the way to go with my NB tophats and FM sway bars are in the garage.

And you are kind of an idiot, or you were being sarcastic?

considering your compressor housing looks large enough to be mistaken for a small moon, I'd say the latter. :p

zoom2zoom 08-13-2008 04:59 PM

It's just a 60 trim!! With a .48 turbine housing.

MicaCeli 08-14-2008 01:41 PM

My car isn't a dyno queen, but that other guy with the Haltech is setting up a dyno time with the Porsche club, so maybe I will have some numbers.

STILL not one problem. that mani is AWESOME!!! and i have NO releif cuts btw

miatamoxie 08-15-2008 01:33 PM

I just got back from a 1400 mile trip through the redwoods and napa/sonoma wine tasting (coming from Eugene Oregon) and had zero problems with the turbo or ebay cast manifold (general engine heat was a problem, since it was well over 100 degrees all the way from Red Bluff to Roseburg over several 6% grade mountain passes).

I did put relief cuts in mine. Bryantaylor and I both got our ebay cast manis installed within a short period of each other, so it'll be a great test to see if relief cuts are good/bad/indifferent.

zoom2zoom 08-15-2008 04:41 PM

hmmm, to cut or not to cut, that is the question??

zoom2zoom 08-19-2008 02:13 AM

Installed the stock NB sport suspension over the weekend with FM sways, definitely needs a bit of lowering, have Tokico springs on the way and FCM bumpstops 36 front and 46 rear on order by end of the week!!

UrbanSoot 08-19-2008 04:49 AM

my new setup is very similar except that im using chinacharger. wanna make me a down pipe? ill pay good $$ for it :)

curly 08-19-2008 06:45 PM

how long does a greddy manifold last without relief cuts? you should find that out and start looking at your uncut one after the same time period
