+1. Nice intake manifold! Is that a kit?

F20turbo 10-16-2006 08:59 PM

i want the intake manifold, who made it?

mxv 10-16-2006 09:16 PM

the whole car is my work from the paint to the fab work. i am still waiting for this nig nog to get done installing my poly bushings in to my control arms.... i hate shops with a passion. so its still standing where it was when i painted it so its still not a rolling chassis. so there is aloooot of work still to say the least to get this thing going. plus i gotta get my megasquirt in and tuned too and i know i will hit my kinks so it may get pushed back past christmas.

<---- having serious miata deprevation (no miata for 3 months now)

I think you should stop working on the car and start manufacturing manifolds. That's sweet. When can I send you mine? ;) Looking good. Looking shiny.

jayc72 10-17-2006 10:48 PM

What's the main advantage to a manifold like this over the stock one?

mxv 10-17-2006 11:05 PM

the "stunna effect"

i am doing it for the larger plenum and smoother straighter runners. there is a few to be gained there... well see on dyno day in a month its mainly for moving the power band up or down. in my case with my smallish turbo i wanted it to move up so i went pretty big on the plenum with the largest runners i can run with a stock head port size.

Very nice job on the intake manifold! I want one too, you are giving me ideas which is bad for my spare time ;) Is that a regular 1.6 throttle body?

yes it is i had an ls1 lying around but my piping matches this tb just fine so i didnt see the point. if i was going 3 inch piping a bigger throttle body would be in order for sure.

Braineack 10-18-2006 02:06 PM

is that engine bolted down? You could do a cooling reroute while everything is out of the way.

mxv 10-18-2006 04:24 PM

already ahead of you :bigtu:

kinda having to anyways so i can flow it thru my turbo.

UofACATS 10-18-2006 06:40 PM

Looked through the progress log. Some really nice work there.

:bigtu:

Atlanta93LE 10-18-2006 07:42 PM

You must have completely gutted the thing to paint it. That'll look phenomenal when it's done!

mxv 10-18-2006 09:26 PM

since i had to take everything out ill have to put it all back in... i hope i dont forget to tq somthing

weight it taken off everything i put back in, i am making a big effort to do that. so far i have a pile of stuff in my garage that when i weighed it all out is about 220 pounds. of course i wont have alot of things but it will look like a completed car nothing will "look" stripped

m2cupcar 01-08-2007 01:20 PM

did you shoot any pics of your intake manifold as you were building it? I for one, would love to see them!

magnamx-5 01-08-2007 01:32 PM
