My updated downpipe.

I guess I'm not as hard-core as I used to be. Couldnt take the open-downpipe madness anymore.

It looks kinda nasty because I ran out of gas an had to use the flux-core.

It's 100% quieter now.

Looks awesome to me. Any problems with not having a flex section?

SloS13 12-14-2007 02:38 PM

Thanks. I've got a flex right after the downpipe, then a 2.5" resonator and a 2.5" oval muffler then a nice rolled angled tip. There's some back-pressure but its's quiet as all get-out.

cardriverx 12-14-2007 05:01 PM

eh, I dont use a flex section :bigtu:

slutz4 12-14-2007 07:20 PM

doesnt look bad to me, the bends look pretty smooth if youd ask me

Atlanta93LE 12-14-2007 07:57 PM

I don't currently have a flex either.

stop by any time dood. I live off of Garners Ferry.

bryantaylor 12-14-2007 09:54 PM

that looks almost exactly like the downpipe i made today, but with better welds. flux core FTL, mine is ugly, but it will work.

tronik 12-14-2007 10:07 PM

as someone who just bought a flux core welder - how do you fab these up - Imean, how do you get it to line up where you want it to go? one section at a time, test fitting each time? cardboard mockups?

Besides the sound, are there performance differences? Any changes in boost control?

nuvolarossa 12-15-2007 01:44 PM

great work for being flux! that's mild steel, not aluminized or galvanized, right?

For some reason my boost went from 8psi to 5psi after I joined it up. I put in an MBC and set it to 10. Car hauls ass.

IIRC, it's aluminuzed steel. I wouldnt weld galvanized :nono: It was just a scrap piece sitting in my tub of misc steel tubing. (I never throw anything away)
