Narrowband for TD04 turbo...

Evening all,

as the title states, I will be driving the car OFF BOOST to get it tuned, will a narrowband be ok for this? As I presume the tuner will have their own wideband bits.

TD04 turbo with ME221 ecu and rx8 injectors

cheers!

Yeah. Not knowing anything about your fueling is super safe for an engine. It's probably fine for use in boost too.

So I have to install the wideband, cheers mate

I keep forgetting these cars aren't subarus. Yes you need a wideband.

Unless the base map on that car is spot-on, it's a really bad idea not to have a wideband, you simply have no idea what's going on.

Also most stand alones rely on the wideband heavily to function properly

Yes it is a dyno tune, and I have been told by the ECU company that the ecu's basemap should be safe to drive off boost to the dyno.

although it's the standard O2 sensor surely it will sort out the AFR readings just so long as I'm not boosting and driving like an idiot ? As off boost the car is basically the same?

it's your engine/risk. give it a shot

but the answer is: No. It won't just "figure itself out".

And I'm still curious what you plan to do after the tune, since like I said, the ecu will need a full time wideband to work right.

I see, thanks for the help guys as you can see this is all very new to me, I'll get there haha.

will just buy the wideband and wire it in then... May have to trailer it to the dyno as mapping and getting the wideband to read correctly may be a bit much for me:eek3:
