NB 1.6 2004 ECU pinouts
Hey guys...
hopefully not wrong topic... Have searched WWW over and out but can not find pinouts of NB series ECU... 2004 build with abs and a/c... To see if I remove ECU and replace with standalone aftermarket one that my abs and a/c will still work... If there is any connection between ECU and abs or a/c I will be running piggyback with standalone ECU... Do I really need to swap out original TPS sensor with aftermarket one? I have read somewhere that aftermartket ECU can not read data from it... Or is it just for MK1? Everything else is covered... Turbo, IC, oil and water lines, placement, stainless pipes for manifold and stainles 2" pipes for exhaust... also 200 cell cat and flex joint... Only ECU is making a hard time... When I am 100% sure everything fits together the swap starts... Cause its my daily... |

Here's the wiring diagram for a 2004 (linked). It should note anything that's different for the 1.6L

damn... VCTS will be a headache... and EGR also... considering dumping EGR (which i dont even know where it is...) but leaving original ECU for VCTS...

will be making 170-180hp tops... just to give it some life and a bit more torque to overtake sunday drivers...

But back to the topic... The Basic MS3 (and also the MS2) from Reverant is by no means a kit. It's a full bleed ready to run Pnp unit, which is as reliableas you will get any aftermarket ECU. It's the best bang for buck that you can get out there atm. There are of course also the DIYautotune PNP units which are also very nice but a bit more expensive... P.S.: as I have just seen you are in Slovenia - so Reverant aka Dimitris is in Greece, you wouldn't even have a too long waiting time for shipping and allthe customs crap... Greets |

But have in mind that I have VCTS which I have no idea how to wire up to standalone ECU...

I have a supplyer for that kind of money that i stated...
Wait a minute? Alternator has its own circuit which limits it to 14.4V... it does not got anything to do with ecu... am I right? I have gone through schematics... and i will leave all as is... BUT! Splice the wires going to injectors so ECU wil still "fire" them (wannabe) but instead of ecu the standalone in piggyback will do that job... all other wires and sensors will be fitted with T fittings to original wiring... so the original ECU can still control VCTS an EGR (which acording to schematics i got)... only the injectors will be directly controlled by piggyback ECU... |
Uuuum okay... i read that if i turbo it... i should remove vcts and leave the plates open all the time or just remove them...
Anyone knows where this sh..t is located?? So i wont have a hard time when doing it... also EGR will go flying out... hopefully my stock ecu will be happy with that :D |
1. Alternator is ECU controlled in all of the 99+ Miatae...
2. Don't do piggyback - it sucks. 3. Leave VTCS in (but if I have to be honest, I don't think the 1,6 Miatae even after 99 or 01 do have it...) I have a 99 and it certainly doesn't have it, and I don't think they changed that later on... 4. Remove EGR - it sucks . |

EGR goes away with new stainless exhaust in spring when everything comes together... |
