NB Euro B6 waterneck removal vs. NB BP - help please

Hi,

as I am doing most of the DIY things for the first time on an (Euro) B6 NB I have to ask somethings that may seem all be answered long ago - so please be patient with me...

I refer to this thread:
https://www.miataturbo.net/showthrea...move+waterneck

As I have to do my timing belt anyway - I'd like to remove the waterneck.

Now there are some differences in the water lines of the NB B6 and BP.

This is how the BP lines go from the oil-cooler to the throttle body to the thermostat housing.

On the NB B6 (that you didn't get in the US) there is no oil-cooler. The water line to the throttle body comes from a port on the front of the intake manifold.

I suppose it doesn't matter for the removal of the waterneck and you still just connect the two lines going to the front of the waterneck?! (Because the throttle body is the same on all NBs and the only difference is the point where the water lines to the throttle body come from)

Please could someone confirm this thoughts?

When removing the waterneck, the line coming from the passenger-rear side of the motor will eventually end up at the water pump inlet. The line can pass through the oil-cooler, throttle body, and in your case, the intake manifold. That line can also be teed into the upper radiator hose.

I wonder the purpose of the lines going into the IM.

You are doing a coolant reroute, right?

No - the coolant reroute is long done, but up to now the line from the TB was going to the front waterneck and the other port on the waterneck was going to the turbo. Now I want to get rid of the waterneck.

Nobody an idea?

I'm sure it's ok to just connect the 2 hoses.

C'mon Z, I answered your question already. The small line is an output at the back of the head. It passes through the oil cooler, tb, turbo, waterneck, etc, then ends up at the water pump inlet.

You can just take the waterneck out of the circuit and connect the two lines.
