NC Turbo
Hello , im in the very early stages of planning & purchaseing components to turbo charge my Mk3 nc 1800cc for racing purposes.
The spech is going to be based around a 9.2:1 comp ratio motor , using external waste gate actuation, forged internals , MS2 ems & have a target out put of around 300 bhp/320lb/ft . Relativly conservative . Im realy intrested to see whats been going off " state side" with the Mk3 as we call them in England. I see Begi do something off the shelf but it dosent suit my RHD situation. At the end of the day its just a ford duratec lump & ive seen them forced induced to great effect. Cant be that difficult. Im very curious to hear about your experiences and wonder what the achilies heal of this engine type may have become apparent. Personaly i think its a crying shame that the Cosworth super charger kits were released . It seems to of created abit of inertia to FI"ing the nc as quite a few of them failed. Certainly in the UK anyway. |
I do not know that much about NC, but for an ECU I would go with an MS3X over the MS2.

The NC has VVT. I'd expect MS3X to be a given between the two.

i was under the impression the mzr in the nc was direct injection
if so ms can't control di |
Thanks for the response chaps,
I think the MS2 has all the features i need for racing, however i had a MS3x equipped car in the workshop yesterday & can appriciate what your saying. Cops , sequential ,etc. Im actualy running "microsuirt with a Bosch/Aud external amp to run my Cops. Only the 2.0ltr version of the NC is VVT in the UK, mines a humble little 1.8. I belive the very latest MX5 is going to be direct gasoline injection & possibly featuring the very exciting 14: 1 compression type engine with stop/ start tech , but isnt available in the UK right now. On that note , i wonder when stand alone ECU"s for controlling DI will be with us ? Been looking at the simular post at the bottom of the page. Just what i was looking for. That Good-Win 2.3 turbo car looks the dogs bollox. |
