So, as someone with zero turbo charging experience and has spent hours trying to research info, I have decided it is time to actually post a question since mine aren't being answered. I plan to buy a kit and turbocharge my miata myself and I'm on a budget, I was wondering if anyone had any info about the kits from a seller called Auto Dynasty on Amazon. I've read mixed reviews about ILoveTacoTaco, so I think I'll tread away from them (unless someone says otherwise that they ARE reliable kits), but i haven't read anyone using this other kit I found on amazon. it's around $600 and comes with whatever you need, i have my doubts on the chrome manifolds. the kit, with a lot of other crap, comes with a T25 turbo, which I'm assuming is a reasonable size. If anyone has any info on them, that would be VERY useful

PS: I DON'T wan't to buy the stupid thing, I found it strange how such a cheap turbo kit was just floating on the market and was curious if anyone else has used it. obviously not, so if you have any sweet info on how to do it correctly, that's what I'm looking for.

Get in on the next MKTurbo buy when it comes around, pickup a megasquirt now for your stock setup and learn to tune in the mean time before getting a fully thought out kit.

Thank you for the non-rude and actually informative version. That's exactly what I plan to do, the turbo would be the final parts of the install. Perhaps there are some kits that have just the adapters and oil taps, that actually what I'd be looking for and get a decent turbo, decent intercooler, decent headers, all that. Genuinely surprised about the feedback in a community like this, so thanks for being helpful

To add to what Girzor and Shuiend have said, you really need to do a LOT more reading of build threads before you buy ANYTHING, except maybe a megasquirt. You don't understand how the parts fit and work together, and until you do, you'll fail miserably by buying shitty/wrong/mismatched parts.

I'm one of those guys that was able to stick to the under 2K budget. But then again, it took around 4 years while scrounging for cheap parts, I had 2 other cars to drive in the meantime, already had all the tools from previous work, I already knew how to build a Megasquirt, and I had done a turbo Miata in the past, so it can be done.

But if this is your first go around, you're fucked. My first one came in at about 4500 all said and done.

I'm just finding it interesting how everyone assumes I don't want to spend that money and do it right. My question was about this specific turbo lot, which seemed too good to be true. I WANT a budget of around $3k, not $600. I just want to be informed and know the right way to do it, I have a passion to get it right. Now obviously I need to do more research, I certainly want to start with a megasquirt system and upgrade the injectors. The last way I will learn any of this is to get shut down by the people with the proper knowledge, so thank you as well =)

I would have been under $2k if I hadn't gotten impatient and bought a $1,200 turbo. I did it much the same way as Dieselmiata. I bought about four turbo kits over time and kept the best parts and resold the rest. By the time I was done I had a halfway decent turbo kit minus the megasquirt and turbo for about $700.

These are the steps to follow to have success. (One step I have left out is installing a 1.8 motor if you do not already have one in your car.)

1. Megasquirt 3 + a wideband O2 sensor. Install them and learn how to tune your stock motor.
2. Install FM or ACT clutch. Break it in properly.
3. Install larger good injectors. FlowForce or Injectors Dynamics.
4. Install turbo hardware. TSE/FM/Begi/Fab9/MKTurbo are the only companies you should be looking at.
5. Profit.

In my opinion - if you don't start with a Flyin' Miata or BEGI manifold and downpipe (cast manifolds) as your first kit I think you are wasting your money. (This does not apply to MKturbo kit). You can usually find a BEGI or FM manifold for about $200-250 used, add a couple hundred for downpipe and you are well on your way. Don't waste your time with tubular manifolds unless its the one Shuiend sells. There ARE good tubular manifolds but they are far less common used in serviceable shape.

'91 Mx-5 with 1.6L, all stock. I haven't done anything yet and obviously shouldn't until I know what I'm doing

Well my list was a bit wrong. So let me change it of what you need to do.


1. Megasquirt 3 + a wideband O2 sensor. Install them and learn how to tune your stock motor.

3. Install 1.8 rear end, preferably one with an LSD, but any 1.8 rear end will be better then what you have.

6. Profit.
