Need help with Toyota COP, Dwell Reducer, Link ECU project.

Yes, I know, old technology, but it’s what I’ve got. Looked at OGPedXing’s excellent video and read as many of the threads as I could (which started to give me a headache, lol.)

Since I have the Link Ecu, I used a dwell reducer, which I bought from member DNA54 (mailed from Italy!)

I made my own harness plug and wired as follows:

Tied all the power and connected to 12v ign - blue
Tied all the grounds and connected to ground – black
Tied all the tach leads and connected to tach – black/white (I used a white wire.)
Tied triggers for 1&4 to trigger – brown/yellow (I used a yellow wire.)
Tied triggers for 2&3 to trigger – brown

I ran the wires through the dwell reducer and the capacitator as seen in the attached pics and diagram.

So, the car won’t start. I got a singing noise out of #3. I swapped the 1&4 COPs with 2&3 and #3 still made noise. Plugging and unplugging all of the connections moved the noise to #2 or #3 so I’m assuming there’s something wrong with brown wire connections. I wonder if the brown wires are shorted at the dwell reducer? I’m tempted to remove the dwell reducer and see if it will fire up. Also, the tach needle was bouncing up and down when the ignition was on so I cut the wire. Not sure why it would get a signal when the motor wasn’t running.

I’m stuck with the Link for now. Last year I explored getting a ms pnp but the tuner at my local shop, EFI Logics in Bethel CT won’t install and tune it, what with the Link being there. There’s a dealer in East Haven, BootlegTuned, but they seem more like a domestic shop. I've already had to resolder some of the Link connections and my great E tuner, Ken Hill, is winding down from Link tuning.

But I'd like to get this running. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted to upload better pics of the harness.

Any idea what that noise is?

Okay, so if I can get it to run, I'm going to try this, to get the tach working. "if they are 4-pin coils and wired correctly, all you need to do is jump ig- and b+ with a 1K resistor."
