custom mid mount intercooler?
searched couldnt find anything..... Ive seen the over the rad intercooler setup and im not a fan. Has anyone ever ran a mid mount setup like the 240 guys with like a smaller custom rad to fit the intercooler piping by? Or put the intercooler on the backside of the rad and put the fans on the front and had them pull air instead of push air?

We also seem to have more issues with cooling, so decreasing the size of the radiator isn't a great idea. Other layouts you see in other cars might not be great. Johnwag(?!?!?) had a setup with a narrow radiator and pipes that went straight past the middle of the radiator.

Yeah I've seen that side by side setup that's why I'm confused on how you can run a half rad but no ones run a slightly smaller rad so your intercooler piping can fit past the rad making a mid mount setup or anyone have any experience with running the intercooler on the backside of the rad?

What if you were to put it in the big open free flowing area of the front of the car. In front of everything but the bumper. I read somewhere that there is a level of efficiency up there with a few bucks spent on ducting. Saw a guy do it at a car show.
Are you just trying to be different? They will call it the, over heat sleep-er

I think you should just cut two holes in the hood and route the piping through them. Then just mount the intercooler on your hood so it get really fresh air AND does not block the radiator. No one has ever run that set up so it would be really different and I bet the reduction in your field of vision would be minimal.

I'm changing my setup to a bottom mount intercooler as we speak.
I got a large used intercooler off of one of our pieces of construction equipment that I will mount between the frame rails underneath the transmission. Here is pic ($20 bill placed on it for size reference). It will be large enough to never need fans to keep the charge air cool.
