New Guy Here

Ok just added an account today because i heard this is place to be if you want turbo info. I am active on ff.com and frequent cp.com, I have a couple 323 gtx's and 4 festivas. No miatas sorry.

Here is the main reason I joined. I am in the process of a BP turbo build in a festiva. I have a BP from a Ford Escort GT and a Mercury capri xr2 trans bolted to it. I got a flying miata happy meal kit with the purchase of a gtx and I plan on using this with my build as long as you guys approve. I also have a megasquirt system on my b6t 323 that lex built from cp.com. Its a mx-3 harness with vaf delete. Its running 330 bpt injectors and a jdm b6t intake manifold. I need to know what injectors, fuel system i should run with my bp turbo. I have a garrett 2052 turbo that can be used or a garrett (cold side .42 and hot side .48) off a volvo 760. I have a bp26 manifold if that helps. Any info or questions you have for me would be great. Thanks.

what is your wHP target?

Ford Fester 01-22-2012 11:44 PM

225 whp festiva

The clutch is win.

You're probably going to want bigger injectors - look for some that are around 400cc minimum - 440s are probably a good bet. A lot of us run the walbro 190 pumps, they might be overkill for your setup. Not sure the capacity of the festiva pump, but a stock mx-5 pump can usually handle 225 with no sweat.

If you want the best injectors for idle and power, the newer EV14 style have less dead time. I think the top place to get them now is five-o motorsport or something like that.

Welcome.

I think 440cc or 550cc would certainly get you there, but the 440's are a bit small for future headroom.

^^^thanks....would it be stupid to go with let's say 1000you cc ev14s? That way I have room for bigger and better?

pusha 01-25-2012 02:25 AM

welcome bro

mx594m 01-25-2012 07:11 AM

when 600cc's are $339 and 1000cc's are $399 [or +$60]; WHY?
the 600cc's give some overhead reserve

[PS-the miata performance community tends to be a bunch of cheap bast...ds, LOL]

matthewdesigns 01-25-2012 07:49 AM

Welcome.

1000's are big enough for 500whp on e85, so maybe overkill. And I was told by FM that a stock Miata pump is good for 300whp on pumpgas using a standalone. I'm sure somebody here could chime in with actual experience as I'm nowhere near that number.

Reverant 01-25-2012 08:44 AM

650cc EV14s will provide enough fuel for 350whp on pump gas AND they idle better than stock. Above that, idle quality will be slightly worse, but nothing terrible. The 1150cc EV14 idles at 14.2:1 just fine.

Ford Fester 01-25-2012 12:37 PM

So if I were to go the corn fed way (e85) even the 650 cc ones should be fine but I'll need a 190 pump and some bigger lines from tank to fuel manifold.

sixshooter 01-25-2012 02:38 PM

For e85 I'd err on the side of a bigger pump because the price difference is so small and you might always want to turn it up later. I'd go with the 255 for e85. Deatschwerks sells a big e85 friendly pump, too.

I love how this thread started with a 225 whp goal and now we're talking about E85 and 650 to 1000 cc injectors, you know, for "headroom."

Have you looked at compressor maps or otherwise verified whether either of those turbos can flow enough to support 225 whp? It's not likely to happen on a 2052. I'm not familiar with the specs of the volvo 760 turbo (wheel sizes?) but those cars only made like 180 bhp from a 2.3L.

Ha I know but I want to buy this stuff once. 225 give or take 50-100. Those Turbos are just a couple I have I didn't look at compressor maps but I am thinking a garrett 2860 would be better.
