Hi all,

Having not posted before I just thought id say hello and also let you know what im doing and hopefully get some advice.

Ive fitted a 1.6 turbo engine from a mazda 323 turbo to my mx5, with a 16g turbo, manifold, front mounted intercooler, 323 turbo injectors (300cc), 323 fuel pressure reg, but standard mx5 inlet manifold and throttle body.

I was going to use a bbr turbo ecu phase 1 but have since found out it wont support above 7psi so its useless to me as my turbo kicks 12psi and im aiming for higher. So at the moment its running a stock mx5 ecu and an Apci SAFC2 Fuel computer.

What do people recomend for ignition??? Im looking at bipes as possibly the way forward.

Also im going to modify my fuel rain to be duel feed but is there anything else i should be doing???

If you want to get a engine management on the cheap, go with the megasquirt. Also, those injectors might not be able to support much more without more fuel pressure. The bipes is a nice unit, will allow you to pull the timing that you want. Good luck

if youre shooting for more than 12psi, id look for a good ecu replacement some larger injectors and call it a day.

I'd defenitely look ito a good replacement ecu at 12psi..... It's certainly possible to run with stacked piggyback solutions.... but theres no replacement for a good tuning solution

I was hoping to get a good solution without going down the line of a replacement ecu (not till next year anyway).

Im hoping for about 200bhp maybe more.

At the moment its quick... really quick but needs setting up properly hence why i was thinking about bipes (as a solution till the end of the year anyway).

How much boost are people running. Ive got forged internals so it should take it if i can get the fuel and timing sorted.

Don't discount the old Emanage Blue.

How much power are you after? That will really determine what you do with the car. If you want an excellent tune and extract the max power from the setup, you are going to want to go the route of a full engine management. If not, the piggyback can get you a real nice tune and just like Bruce was saying, the emb can be a very useful tuning device when in the right hands. Good luck.

I want decent power from the car, atleast 200bhp probably more on the basis i think the engine will take it, but the car isnt used everyday. Its a toy an out and out toy so its not essential. My question really is how much power will i be able to get from 300cc injectors setup right??? Ive got 440cc but is that a bit overkill???

I think that the 323 pressure regulator goes on a 1:1 relation with boost, so the 300cc injectors will not support as much as they could with a fpr that was on like a 4:1 relation with boost. I would get the emb if that is what you are shooting for. The 440cc injectors are going to be real hard to get to idle correctly. It has been done before and if you can, more power to you. An emb and a begi fpr is what I would be going after. The 300 cc injectors will support that amount of power and some good tuning. Get a wideband O2 sensor also, that will assist you in making your decision.
