Hey guys,

I've been on this site quite a bit and decided it was time to join. about 2 years ago I bought my 99 bone stock with a second set of wheels and a new-in-the-box soft top for $3200 (150k miles). but soon found out it burned more oil than fuel.

After absolutely falling in love with the car and getting inspired by a ride in Bryan's Fab9 insanely fast NB, I decided I was going to build and turbo my miata.

But, first things first, I bought a cracked and crappy hardtop for $450 bucks and threw on the gold konigs that came with the car, and my dad got me an early birthday present of a hard dog roll bar that him and I put in.

Me and the miata (which I have named Jack the Ripster, Ripper for short) went to our first track day at Waterford raceway, where I spun out twice, but had an absolute blast.

That winter, my boyfriend (at the time) and I pulled the motor, and put in supertech forged pistons, manley rods, and all new bearings along with some "while we're in there" goodies like a gates timing belt, new water pump, etc.

I also found a color matched hardtop for a great deal and a stage 21 louvered hood which I couldn't pass up. That winter Ripper also got HKS hipermax coils and some XXR527s, so he was really starting to look good. I also made him some front canards and a hardtop spoiler out of acrylic.

I had then taken him out to California with me for an internship, were I got the experience of a lifetime driving thru the canyon roads in my miata. It felt so meant to be.

While I was in California, I picked up a whole new rear subframe with a torsen diff!

This winter, I have been working on turbo'ing him, but the process has been moving quite slowly as I run into things I don't know or am waiting on parts. I also don't have much help, so if you're an expert and live in Michigan, hit me up! I went with an EFR BW 6258 with Fab9s mani and dp, stage 2 intercooler, AEM ems 4, deatchwerks 1000cc injectors, walbro 190 high pressure pump, Tial wastegate, turbosmart BOV, uego wideband, etc

Also invested in a Wilwood big brake kit and spent a little time making my interior a little more homley ;)

And thats where I'm at today. Can't wait to get it running again so I can drive it!
Hope you guys enjoyed my quick little story/intro to my car and I

I gotta admit, looks pretty sexy right there. Car is looking good, what are the end goals/uses with it?

And I also have a feeling you are going to find plenty of "help" in Michigan now.

Looks great. I wish my silver NB was that clean. You should plan for a coolant reroute, and if you're looking to really use that EFR to it's potential, an ATI super damper and billet oil pump gears.

Maybe I'll catch ya out at Waterford this year, or if there's any local meets. I'm in Farmington Hills.

Awesome build so far. Quality parts for the most part and a solid knowledge base. Looking forward to updates on the it. I feel like you may be running out of fuel pump with a motor built to take a bit of boost.

I think, from what I have learned, the pump will be fine. unless E 85, that's when demand goes up.

welcome.
solid setup and Its really refreshing to see a gal modding the heck out of, and enjoying a clean Miata.

love the setup. +cat for you

You earned a cat. You need front camber. Now.

Girz0r 04-07-2016 05:30 PM

That thing looks mean! I like it.

Welcome :likecat:

Darbymx5 04-07-2016 10:30 PM

Thanks guys! :) I am slightly confused though, what are all these cats people are talking about? :likecat:

Prop system,

Of which is a way to clearly see if you should be really taking that person's advice on any said topic.

Also, the site has undertone themes of cats, eggplants & ponys... occasional red head.

Don't forget to make a build thread in the build section so we can follow your progress :bigtu:

Do you own a cat?

I really like that hardtop spoiler. Do you have any pictures of the build process? How did you bend the acrylic?

Thanks! I don't, but to bend the corners I made a wood template of the radius (took a square block of wood, traced the radius on as best I could, then cut and sanded it to match the curves) then I just laid the acrylic over it and used a heat gun and it just "melted" right onto the template. Turned out better than I thought, and only cost me $20:)

I like this

I want to trim my bumper now. My exhaust tucks up nice and high.

nice car! is that your garage? pretty solid work space for car activities. FYI you get cats for being nice / helpful and negative cats for calling people out, as I learned the hard way. good times, have fun with the projects! as I'm sure you know, at times it can be very frustrating but as they say, its a journey not a destination. we don't see many ladies doing man stuff to a chick car so good times, and welcome to the group.

I actually think it would look better with fender flares in black maybe.
