Xede or Link?
Sending the car off to BEGI end of Jan. Their installing the S4 system and using my 94 as a test mule. They will be using their Xede for the testing.
I have 2 ways to go.
1. Get it back from them with the Xede piggy tuned and ready to run. Drive home 2200 miles with no worries. Car is a daily driver, I don't have much time to fool around tuning and tweaking so this sounds good.
2. Have them use the car, but they install the Link full replacement I already have at the end. They won't tune it. Hope the base map is OK and drive to FM. They are pretty much on my way home anyway. 2 hours on the dyno and I'll have 2 tunes, one for driving - one for DEQ.
Xede advantage is simplicity and getting it tuned at no cost. I can sell my Link system for about the same cost so price isn't an issue. The car is a daily driver and this should be a simple, reliable piggy system. Corky seems to really like it. Don't know if that's because he's right or if it's because it's simpler and he's a machinist, not a tuner.
Link advantage is it's well documented and sorted out by FM. It's a full replacement ecu and has more control. Has a knock sensor, wideband inputs, runs a boost controller and eliminates the MAF. Dissavantage it may take more time/ tweaking on my part, some extra cost for tuning at FM, having to deal with 2 vendors.
I'm not gonna go MS. I simply don't have the time, knowledge or inclination to work with it. The Xede is the easiest for me obviously, but the link is a well sorted out system even though it's old news. FM's support is a plus, even though most of us don't like them much, they do know the link.
Whatta you guru's think?

Already have a link full ecu with boost control, knock sensor, keypad, and every conceivable option. Gonna be selling that off I guess.
MX5Jon,
No problem sending you my maps! Just don't know if they'll apply to your build. They're installing the S4 system with a GT2860rs, 2.5" exhaust with race cat and 550's. If my the tune they create can help others, great!

My Xede Base MAP got me 211RWHP without tuning. (11PSI) After tuning, 223RWHP. (Still needed a bit more tuning.) Now at 12.5-13PSI I get 244-255RWHP. (98 Octane) (All with a MAF still in place.) Pretty good for a piggy back. I will have some nice dyno sheets up after some 15PSI tuning in January. I wanna break 260 and be done with it. The Xede gives me a Solid Idle, and the software is nice. Not to mention wideband integration, and EBC are on the way. BEGI is very responsive too. Even there on the weekends.

Let's all chant together....

Good to know people have good things to say about it.
Drewbroo, Which turbo did you go with on your S3 system? With the S4 system I'm hoping to make similar power - 240/ 250 - on pump gas with the GT2860RS. It's a daily driver and track day car, I don't want to push limits of reliability too much. Glad you've had a good experience. I've got nothing but good responses from BEGI with all my coorespondence and parts I've bought in the past.
Savington, Braineack, Ben, Thanks for the suggestion of Xede and not pushing for the MS. I'm not savvy enough to get into my own programming. Don't have the time either!

Drewbroo,
Nice. Sounds like we'll have similar setups other than the Mani. Good to know you like it!
Magna, When I get bored with the 240-250 I'll have I'll have to look at building a motor. Hopefully I won't get bored for a few years yet! I'll get in enough trouble as it is.
