sounds fucking awesome.:bigtu:

RickA 10-27-2007 07:59 PM

Wow that sounds kickass!

Savington 10-27-2007 08:22 PM

You can't even hear mine. :( All engine noise with the occasional PSHEW.

I don't know about you but I can hear it just fine :bigtu:

Sounds great

Ben 10-27-2007 09:09 PM

the video makes the tach look like the clutch is slipping.

headwork ftw eh.

neogenesis2004 10-27-2007 09:11 PM

HOLLA! sounds slow.

BOV sounds like a laser. Which?

Edit: Didn't see the post above me.

RusMan 10-27-2007 09:47 PM

Nice, that's pretty quite, I like it.

Savington 10-27-2007 09:58 PM

Clutch is definitely not slipping. Any sudden tach jumps are wheelspin.

BOV is a generic all-metal eBay, VTA.

Ben 10-27-2007 10:06 PM

No--Scott's video, not yours. I watched the vid again and think that it's because the road is wet.

My BOV sounds like yours.

Savington 10-27-2007 10:36 PM

Ah. Yeah, I was like "shit, if that's 14psi on a T3, and he's spinning 3rd gear, it's hopeless for 300whp"

krayzrac3r 10-27-2007 10:40 PM

sounds great scott

Braineack 10-27-2007 11:20 PM

4th = slips if i take it out and boost hard within 3 seconds of startup :gay: ill post something better tomorrow. that's kevlar for you, holds everything else i throw at it after i drive around town for 2 minutes and it warm ups.

im pretty sure im going to replace the disc with something from clutchnet next spring, but for now when i was boosting before the rain, (road was damp) logging 17psi, it was fine.

I was hoping you wouldn't notice.....i mean:

3rd gear was partial throttle, 4th was WOT. Fast, huh? :bigtu:

TurboTim 10-27-2007 11:32 PM

Sounds great. Pretty loud and deep.

Markp 10-28-2007 12:23 AM

Ya 300 RWHP is pretty stupid, getting sideways at 70 MPH is sure fun though.

Mark

Savington 10-28-2007 01:05 AM

I should get a ride in a 300+whp car before starting a fund for the GT2871R. :P

y8s 10-28-2007 11:08 AM

you can always turn boost down if it's too scary for you, ma'am.

Saml01 10-28-2007 11:55 AM

Sounds awesome.

A part of me regrets not getting this 93 I was looking at. The 1.8's dont rev like the 1.6's do.

I don't know about that... My 1.8 spins up nice to 8500. It's all in the build, I built a few sweet spinning 1.8's.

braineack is your oil pressure high enough? looks like its reading 60 at wot :dunno:

started in 50* weather 2 seconds before I started recording, sounds typical to me.

mazda/nissan 10-28-2007 01:11 PM

oh i was just wondering, i'm used to seeing maybe 30 at WOT and like 2 at idle, but its still 75ish here

magnamx-5 10-28-2007 01:20 PM

your oil is thinning out on the heat of the motor or your oil pressure reliefe spring is to weak.

mazda/nissan 10-28-2007 01:24 PM

well i doubt its the oil, because i never have to change it really i just keep topping it off :bigtu: it may be the relief spring however (wtf is that?)

braineack i can't tell from the videos but how much bassy resonation do you have at low rpm? thats what drives me wild not the loudness

magnamx-5 10-28-2007 01:30 PM

Do some reading on our oil pumps and how people shim/replace the pressure relief springs, to allow a more consistant and higher pressure when hot esp when the old one is worn.

Braineack 10-28-2007 01:48 PM

that's the reason I left the cruising part in the video. it's almost silent just driving around...i mean you hear it back there, but it's only really loud if you wail on it and the wastegate opens. (if you have a stero with a subwoofer it sounds pretty close, laptop speakrs wont output the tones correctly.) It's still not the best video, one the turbo spools and the wastegate opens, it growls.

but a 2.5" with resonator might be something to consider if you wanna keep it a tad quiter.

my oil pressure has always been the same sicne day 1. after i heat up it idles at like 15, and i cruise somewhere in between the 30 and 60 mark. wot goes anywhere from 50-70, depending on the temp outside and the grade. this is currently valvoline 5w30. you can see in that first vid my oil pressure was somewhere close to 60psi just after startup in the cold.

TheBandit 10-28-2007 02:01 PM

Sounds good man. I was starting to wonder if I had missed something when that tac started to bury itself in 3rd and 4th gear.

cueball1 10-28-2007 03:43 PM

I like how Youtube shows other related vids. Pull up your's and there's Y8's and Savington vid's too!

Braineack 10-28-2007 04:48 PM

ok jerkys. look no slipping.

reving at idle outside for a better listen:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcZCbi2gpkU

good boost and some u-turn fun:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXna40HRLfw

notice the white e30 m3 after i make the u-turn, he didn't want to run :(

mazda/nissan 10-28-2007 05:45 PM

what a gangsta m3, thought it was a fox body at first :dunno:, sounds better now though :bigtu:

Saml01 10-28-2007 08:09 PM

Any of you turbo guys running a lighter flywheel?

Yup. Fidanza. Came on the car when I got it, but I like it.

Braineack 10-28-2007 08:44 PM

i had a 9lber installed and removed it.

Reason?

neogenesis2004 10-28-2007 09:48 PM

He's a puss.

Braineack 10-28-2007 09:58 PM

chatter, revs drop, too quick through the gears.

Savington 10-28-2007 11:11 PM

Too quick through the gears? Perhaps you should run less boost, too, to slow things down.

Pansy. ;)

rappadan 10-28-2007 11:20 PM

sounds good scott... still not loud enough thou. And i gotta give you some lessons on "drifting"

TurboTim 10-29-2007 08:48 AM

Hmmm sounds louder than mine, same tone just louder. What size magnaflow canister? Mine is 5x8x18. Yours sounds good :)

I run the FM (Fidanza) flywheel.

Zabac 10-29-2007 10:53 AM

sounds good to me, good job man

Stripes 10-29-2007 12:18 PM

Sounds pretty good man. Driving in the DC area must suck. I'm glad I live 5 minutes away from back country roads.

miatamania 10-29-2007 08:47 PM

damn son...that sounds amazing.

mkrazit 10-29-2007 10:34 PM

Very deep, sounds serious. Sounds similar to my BEGi SS downpipe and Enthuza 2.5" exhaust. My IHI hisses less. :)

I have the 14-lb FM flywheel (latest offering, actually an ACT Streetlite). Can't be lazy shifting or you'll buck like whoa. Take-offs don't feel any different from the stock 18-lb wheel.

elesjuan 10-30-2007 04:02 PM

Sounds sweet dude.

Anyone have experience with 3" turboback straight pipe? For a car thats not driven like, ever, is it something thats livable or does it totally scream ticket me?

m2cupcar 10-30-2007 04:44 PM

I thought my 3" with cat and 18" glasspack screamed ticket me when it was full throttle. :dunno:

Braineack 10-30-2007 04:45 PM

when i had my wastegate wired open after putting the exhaust on. It was pretty insane. I would not like it everyday. I tried everything possible to keep the vaccum high while driving. ;)

thesnowboarder 11-01-2007 12:47 AM

hey braineack, what camera and camera mount are you using? I would like to get footage as clear as yours, you can see how shaky mine is here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YecW-lwJ2Ac

Let me know please

Thanks!
Nick

elesjuan 11-01-2007 07:29 PM

I'll have to pickup one of those mounts myself. I bought a more universal mount from filmtools.com

http://www.filmtools.com/gripsuccupca.html

Has a 6" Vacuum cup thats held to about 150mph but is only steady if the surface its on is stout. Our little door panels aren't strong enough to support the mount and a 2 pound camera to get quality video. :(

thesnowboarder 11-02-2007 03:29 AM

Thanks and what kind of camera do you use, the quality is very good!

Zabac 11-02-2007 09:25 AM

braineack-what kind of underwear do you wear, must feel real silky as you seem calm while driving, must get some like that

Braineack 11-02-2007 09:35 AM

are you frantic when you drive?
