Default Ecu questions?

i just did the Exhintake mod on my 92 escort gt, and what a difference it made!! anyway, a friend who owns a miata was telling me about a mod to the ecu where you can change the fuel cut out of the stock ecu by changing the crystal. Is the ecu on any BP engine the same (miata, EGT, Protege) aka can i do the miata ecu mod on my EGT? thanks

THE CRYSTAL MOD WILL LEAN OUT YOUR CAR AND RAISE THE REV LIMIT..(WHOOPS CAPS)...the crystal is used as a reference of time for all applications such as injector timing etc...in the 1600 miatas its a 4 megahertz crystal..if you swap it for a 4.4 megahertz crystal it will lean out the fuel by 10%, raise the rev limit by 10% and and advance the timing by an unknown amount but generally it will be between one and six degrees.

4sfed5 pretty much just summarized that entire 17 page thread.

If you want to see how to do it then you'll need to go and read the thread lol.

I love how 17 pages of BS can be condensed into a 1 paragraph answer. Nicely done.
