Oil cooler news...

Finally got my shit from racer parts wholesale. I have sawzalled my front bumper a bit to make room for it and once I get some hydraulic fittings tomorrow I will be finishing up the install and posting pics afterwards. It is going to be a tight fit and I am thinking I will have to get some aluminum sheeting and close off all the airflow around the cooler, but one thing at a time. Oil filter is a Ford Mustang bosch filter and I am putting it in the front passenger wheel well.

I'm divided about whether to remove my thermostat or not. It does get cold in north florida during the winter but I suppose I could remove it in the summer and put it back in the winter if I really wanted, now that there is no coilpack in the way. The oil cooler has a thermostat.

Where do you guys get that japanese thermostat that opens wider than the US one?

Or instead of aluminum sheeting I could use that plastic stuff that bends to make ducting and stuff. Where do you get that?

Where are you putting the oil cooler?
bsrproducts.com, search for "black plastic"
Why do you want to remove the coolant tstat?

In case it doesn't open fully enough? I dunno, I guess I am anticipating problems due to my incompetence.

Thanks for the link.

The Cooler is right underneath the hood latch where the stock air blocker goes. Mine has been missing for years with no overheating (on the stock rad) so 57mm + oil cooler should be more than adequate.

That's probably reason enough not to mess with the tstat. And the oil cooler will only help manage coolant temps once added. Looking forward to your install pics.

Any pics of this install? Doing research now to Turbo my Miata and am considering an oil cooler.
