Oil feed port disappearance date?
 

I’ve had some confusion about if my car has a drivers side oil feed port I can tap into. Been without a garage and too busy to take the OEM heat shields and stuff off to see for myself.

My car is a 95’ and different sources say that port was removed after 94’, during 95’, or after 95’. Is there a definitive date, engine model or specification that I could use to determine if it has the port? Potentially from the VIN?

Couldn’t find any data more specific than a year so figured I’d shoot the question out there.

I know the oil and water feeds were very easy to see on my FWD, 1995 Escort GT which still had them but understand the RWD orientation might make it more difficult to see.

The best way to tell is visually on your own engine. The cutoff probably happened mid year. It's not as if Mazda manufactured the exact number of engines to fit the exact number that rolled off the assembly line labeled as a '94 car. So stop being lazy, get a small mirror and flashlight, and check for yourself. :noob:

I was wrong!

Loss of the oil port on the drivers side was a running change in the 1995 model year. Early ‘95s have them, late ‘95s do not have them. I do not know the VIN number break point. If you have a 95, you need to check.

Checked twice already with a flashlight and all that, so I’ll just go ahead and wait till my finals at college are over. Just wanted to determine my oil feed situation before summer rolled around.
