Default the oil leak A/C bolt?

I removed the A/C when I installed my turbo a few weeks back and I seem to remember everyone here saying I should reinstall one of the compressor bracket bolt to avoid an oil leak? that sound familiar to anyone?

It's the M8 long bolt on the front-facing right side of the oil pump. It goes through the oil pump housing. Removing that would be like removing a valve cover bolt. You'll need a shorter bolt if you don't have the A/C bracket.

wow, I am over 1000 miles since it was removed. Perhaps I should crawl under there and screw it back in. I have noticed things getting a bit more grimey under there but no massive leaks.

come to think of it I dont remember there being any m8 bolts. Isn't it just 4 m10? I'll have a look all the same as I doubt you guys are making it up....

Yeah, I learned about this one from experience, too. There was no major gushing, I just noticed that the left side of my engine was starting to get dirty / oily. Spent a bunch of money replacing the oil lines to and from the turbo, the VC gasket, etc., before somebody showed me the light. Bought a new bolt, cleaned up the filth, and it's been spotless for years now.

Damn, I appreciate the fact someone pointed this out lol, I just put the factory bolt back in with no bracket and have noticed the same thing. Thanks.

It is thought by some of us that leaving the bolt out can also lead to premature oil pump failure.

Green is the bolt, purple is the line between the pump and the case:

Size is M8-1.25 x 45mm.

Welp I feel like an idiot. I'm missing this bolt too, and I bought a new rear main as I thought that was where my leak was.

Should be able to get to it without crawling under the car. In fact all you need is the bolt and a 10mm socket, rather then a jack, stands, extensions to remove the under tray, and a half hour or more of free time.

Yep mine is now done too. I just cut the bolt down a bit and stuck it back in. Turns out "a bit grimey" when viewed from above, is a real ******* mess once you look under the car. whole left side of the undercarriage is wet, and this was a pretty dry car till I pulled the ac.

20-30 yd-tons.

If it breaks, you've torqued it too much. I think the spec is 28-40 in-lbs.
