Panic moment driving to the store.

I let off the gas and my car keeps making the turbo sound. I push in the clutch and it mostly stops. I start driving again and I keep getting the loud turbo whine sound coming in and out.

I think that maybe my turbo has taken a crap, then I hear a diesel truck ahead misfire and smell unburnt fuel. I pull up next to him, turns out he had a chip and was making a ton of turbo noise because of that.

He was like 1/8th of a mile ahead of me though, so that was a pretty loud turbo.

hah...I would have tripped...up here in the mtns...modded diesels are a dime a dozen...and those things are LOUD when they are straight piped and the boost is up'd

yeah man, theres a couple that run at the 1/4 mile track up here.... big stacks and stuff, can hear the damn turbo at idle...... Glad to hear your car's ok!

heheh... my diesel project car will likely have as much weight in sound deadening as it will in the rollcage. something about having a high reving (5K rpm) diesel 2 feet behind ones head makes this loud turbo situation sound like a bad idea.

lol.. it's like when you're driving along and all of the sudden you smell coolant, or burning oil. Quick look at the gauges-normal. Look in the mirror for smoke-nothing but the cop who's been chasing you for miles. Then you see a bit of smoke from the '88 Accord up ahead...

My car has been making slight coolant smells since I swapped out the water pump a month back. I think it might have a very slight leak. Fortunately I have tremendous experience with swapping out the water pump due to screwing it up 2 times before getting it 99 percent right.
