picking out a new turbo

So my engine rebuild is almost done after one of my valves disintegrated on the highway. It now has all forged internals, 3 angle valve job ported 84mm bore and 9.5:1CR. Over the past year I've built my own kit trackdog racing fmic, water injection, 2.5" full exhaust, tial wg, turbosmart bov, :brain: ms, jgs manifold et cetra.
Well a few days ago I checked out the turbo i bought used off a nissan guy I know 8 months ago and theres alot more shaft play than i remember so ran oil through it at maybe ~2psi and it leaked at the compressor blade so I'm guessing the seals are bad.
I'm handing the turbo over to a machine shop owner that's friends with my dad because he thinks he can fix it. If that goes south I'll be in need of a new turbo. My old one was basically a Garrett equivalent of a BB Turbonetics t3s60. The new one needs to be a T3 flange and i'm wanting to make about 250~275 hp at the crank and i'd prefer it to be journal bearing because i dont want to have to buy a new chra to rebuilt it(college student budget) the car is for time attack/autocross but i also want to be able to daily drive it so I'd want it to have a good spool.

So can any of yall recommend me a new turbo?

try a chinacharger. everyone's doing it:D

Nevermind, t25 flange. I'm really happy with my Godspeed turbo, so I would suggest checking their stuff out. Are you going internal or external wastegate?

18psi 05-20-2010 11:44 AM

that's exactly the one i just got lol

only reason i'm weary of a chinacharger is i'm going to put around 15k miles a year on the car and a new turbonetics t3s60 would only cost about $300 more cheap insurance. i could reweld my manifold for t28 it wouldn't be that big of a deal and i'm going external

so get a t3 s60 from turbonetics.
lol.

There is always the "but if i spend this little bit more" no matter where you look.... 3071R? you can add this and that

VVVS 05-20-2010 12:10 PM

if i did go chinacharger wouldn't that GT3076R spool a lot slower than you'd want on an autocross car?

There are members on hear that have had really bad experiences with Turbonetics. FYI

autoX car and 260hp... 2860RS 0.64 or 2560R 0.86
edit: oh right... journal bearing... uhh.... t3 60 trim from garrett with 0.63 housing from ATP.

The chinese 3076R is actually a lot smaller than a real 3076R if you look up the measurements. I believe it was much closer to a 2871 if you are looking at the same one. But you should look up the specs yourself and not take the advice of some guy on the forumzzz. But I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
