Pierburg install. Power wire route?

Pump in today. I smell like gas.

How does the power wire run from splicing (blue/red) at the stock pump, to under the car to the inline pump?

Should I take off the larger cover? Fun begins when the pump is in!

take a coat hanger and straighten it. shove it down the toward the rear tire. it should appear somewhere above the fuel filter. tie you wire onto that and pull the hanger back up.

Questions answered in 7 minutes or less. F-ing cool. Back to the garage...

Well that worked. Looked for it for like 5 minutes, checking all the cracks/spaces/possibilities, when I was "creepering" out from under the car I saw the hanger directly under the rear diff. Sweet. :wavey: Boost time fellas, see you in 3 hours

EDIT: started new thread - General Miata

It won't start. Cranked for 15 seconds, nothing. Read the Miata book, said prime the system with the GND to FP jumper. Did that for 15 seconds, tried it and nothing again.

Re-checked all fuel connections, fuses, and read book again. Primed for another 15 seconds, nothing. Then primed for like 45 seconds and of course nothing.

I can hear a nice "whurr" from both pumps when priming, and high-pitched "whine" when I take the gas cap off and listen closely. Even tried starting with the jumper in place to bypass the relay.

Can't think of what else it could be? I figured for sure the priming would work. It did run out of gas, as most of it poured over me as I tried to find the right sized plug I said screw it, let it drain.

Should I prime it for a half hour? My battery is damn near dead.

Wanna get out there and burn some dead dinosaur

If it were me and I had already spent all that time trying to get it to work I would pull the pump and see if it will pump water. Just hook it up to a battery charger or something to get your +12V. If you can't pump with it off of the car you can't put with it on the car.

HMM. I can feel the fuel pumping through the lines under the hood near the AFPR when I'm priming it. Seems to be pumping (?) I'm thinking it's an injector problem? I pulled one to look and it was dry. Seems to me that with all that cranking the plugs would be wet and smell heavily of gas (?)

pull the return line after it's off and see if it spills fuel. make sure you hooked the lines up the right direction. make sure you didnt unplug anything, like the afm. double back on all your steps.

I'll try that.

Going to post pics to see if it's hooked up backwards. Actually hoping it's backwards! Tried to get different angles, kinda hard to see what's going on.

more. This failing, should I pull the return hose underhood to see if fuel is present?
