Please look at this bolt pattern

Can anyone tell me what bolt pattern this may be?

I bought a great downpipe from eBay before I bought my turbo thinking that the downpipe was a standard Ford 5 bolt pattern... And then I bought the turbo and found that the holes don't line up.

My downpipe will fit this .82 a/r turbine housing (below)... Note: the flying hole up top and that the bolt hole to the right of the wastegate port is a little further out?

Has anyone seen anything like this? and can you identify for me (what OE application? what model?) and do any of you guys know if I can get a .48 a/r housing with this pattern?

It looks like the standard 5-bolt but with an additional one up on the top and far right. I don't see a problem just using a general 5-bolt flange and ignoring the additional bolts. Good luck.

There are multiple 5 bolt patterns out there. I know mine doesnt work with the ford 5 bolts. It was off a mercedes diesel originally.

I agree. Looks like the pesky Mercedes bolt patern that seems to trick everyone.
Back when I had my Miata I originally had a T3/T61 to go on. It had this funky turbine housing as well :(

:werd:
the bolt pattern on my Merc trubine housing has all the bolt holes spread out a little further (3/16-1/4") than the typical "ford" pattern.

All the holes on the turbine above line up with the typical ford style pattern, but the two outer holes do not- and those are the holes that mate with the wg/dp combo (in conjunction with the other three ford holes).

Better idea to start a new thread with a title "ZY turbocharger" rather than jackin' this thread

Ah, yes, I should've been a little clearer than that. The downpipe I have has the bolt pattern that fit the OUTER bolt holes on that housing above. I don't have a picture of the actual downpipe... this is a picture that I found from a .82 turbine housing that has the same bolt pattern as the downpipe. But it's the OUTER holes.

OH WAIT!!! Here's a picture of the downpipe and turbo that I actually have... I didn't remember that I had these.

Notice on the downpipe.. the "flying" top hole that's WAY up there. And the hole to the left of the wastegate flapper is also too far out. Is this the Mercedes bolt pattern?

beerslurpy 12-09-2006 11:44 AM

I have no idea. It doesnt look like one. I've never seen the mercedes turbines in anything other than .48 stage 1 size. My stage 3 housing had to be machined from a stage 1.

They only exist in the aftermarket because a few shiploads of them were available for very cheap a few years back. People just rebuilt them with newer center sections and sold them for a profit. The upside is that I got a two very affordable turbos from the bargain.

You could port that WG hole out like another half an inch and nothign bad would happen.

I say drill a new top hole and work the others out so you can get it to bolt up. That dp/wastegate is nice setup. :D
