Porting MSM manifold

I am about to do the final install of the MSM turbo setup. Looking at the ports where the exhaust gases enter the turbo manifold I noticed that the geometry reduces down right after the gasket and then opens up.

Is there any reason I can't just port this lip out to keep the exhaust flow smooth and not hit this speedbump on the way to the turbo? I am sure it is in there because of the casting process. I do not want to weaken the manifold and have cracks later. It appears that there should be more than enough material left though.

Anyone with MSM experience deal with this before?

You might check with the guys on Mazda-Speed.com. If there are any tricks with the MSM stuff, those guys will know them.

My wild ass uninformed opinion is to PORTALLTHETHINGS because its cast, but that's just me ;)
