Default 5/16 SS water line source

Hello all,

I'm looking for a source for the 5/16' water lines. I'm hoping to get them in Stainless Steel. If not the 5/16", then does anyone know if 3/8" will be able to tighten down to the water supply off the thermastat housing?

I did a write up a while back for this, and I just installed my SS water lines today, and it was slightly modified from my original plan as I source coolant from the block now.

I came across this old-ish thread while looking for info on the coolant lines and it was very useful. But I did want to mention this other piece of info I came across:

From The Honeywell Turbo Technologies FAQ

Q. What water flow rates are acceptable for turbo operation?
A. Water-cooling of turbocharger bearing housings has been widely used to enhance bearing durability. It is designed to remove heat from the center housing after the engine is shut down. This is accomplished because a thermal siphon is set up in the center housing. As heat from the turbine housing and exhaust manifold soaks into the center housing, the water is vaporized and rises, drawing in cooler water. This continues until there is insufficient heat to cause the process to continue.

Installation
In order for the water-cooling to function properly, the center housing needs to be installed below the water level in the engine. The water inlet to the turbocharger needs to come from a lower point in the cooling system up to the center housing. The water outlet needs to go from the turbocharger up to a higher point in the system and cannot have any high spots or "traps" in the line.

Interesting to say the least. TurboByGarrett says simply to avoid unnecessary undulations in the lines to maximize the siphon effect and posts the following picture to show how to properly clock the CHRA to get the most temperature reduction.



On another note, this is how pretty much everyone routes their water lines (including FM and BEGi for who knows how long), and I haven't seen any issues from it yet:

bumping an old thread but in the above pic line of the numbered lines one and two. if im running a dsm t25 doe it matter where the lines bolt onto the turbo is there a set feed/return kind of setup like with oil.

and which of the 2 spots would be feed the coolant through the turbo if the feed for it has to come from the bottom of the turbo?

No, there is no "in" and "out" on the water jacket. You can plumb it however it most convenient.

^^ thanks for that the second part was me reading the op and i saw that it said cooling is most effective if water enters through the bottom of the turbo and exits through the top
