Quick Question about MAF

Hey i'm new to Miatas, just picked up a 92 White 1.6L use to own an SRT4 with an upgraded turbo and such, so i'm pretty familiar to turbo systems, just wondering if i were to turbo this car what the HELL do i do with this giant MAF connected to the air box, do i still have to use it? I've searched this forum and clubroadster and cant really find an answer.

Pitch it in the round file. Now, let the flaming begin because you didn't search for engine management solutions before getting stumped on how to delete the big barn door.

Soooo the only way to bypass this thing is a full engine management system?

Well, it's not the only way. A sufficiently advanced piggyback ECU can be used to simulate an airflow signal to feed into the stock ECU based on manifold pressure vs. RPM. I wrote a tutorial on this several years ago: http://miatajoe.50megs.com/

That said, replacing the stock ECU with a programmable standalone ECU such as a Megasquirt, Adaptronic, Hyrda, etc., is by far the best solution. Dealing with the stock ECU becomes a serious pain in the ass at higher power levels, and once you get past the initial learning curve of dealing with an aftermarket ECU, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Why would you want anything else? Seriously, you act as if this 'full engine management system' was very expensive or difficult. Installing a MSPNP takes like 30 minutes, tuning is pretty much done for you on TunerStudio.

Last time i checked an EMS was like a grand so thats what i was going off of

A grand? You obviously didn't look very hard. Also MS are always popping up in the classifieds. I think a new MSPNP is like right under $600.

Then you must not have checked in the last 8 years. Try 147$. :P

Seriously, did you even spend like two seconds searching? A grand? You might not want the cheapest one above, but that's to just show how little you researched before posting this thread.

if your seriously anti ems, you could get a maf translator (http://www.maftpro.com/) i had one on my turbo e30 it worked decent, but you can get a mega squirt cheaper and its way more functional, squared.
