On the other hand, cause I feel like a noob today...i searched and just read about injector driver circuitry. Rx7 550's are cheap and easy to come by, and they are low imp like my 460's. So I think I'll look for a set of them.

dw600's are completely pnp and work excellent. many adaptronic owners started off with them.

Since the DW 600's are high imp, do I need to modify my ms?

Selecting proper turbo
So I'm stumped about the turbo. Currently I probably make about 235 whp at 14 psi. It is fully spooled by 3700rpm.
I want to make 250 whp easily by 10 psi, and be fully spooled by 5000 rpm. I'm thinking 2871, or maybe even 3071? Must be internally wastegated. Please help me choose. |
Why the 10 psi limiter? 250ish WTQ with an IAT of x is what it is regardless of what the KPA happens to be.

True. I was just using the 10 psi as an example. Meaning, I want to make a lot more power than I do now, with less boost and still have headroom. Where my current turbo is maxed, I want my new turbo to just get started.

The general opinion I got when reading up on it was that detonation kills them. Improper tuning, bad gas, knock, etc. Not steady pressure. Their ringlands aren't weak like on a subaru so they don't "just go".
Rods on the other hand, have been known to bend/break even on well running engines. In fact quite a few were pulled from OPERATIONAL engines that were all bent. |

Cool... when i was in my nissan... i did this...which is why im not fond of stock pistons:
Attachment 197372 at 7psi with decent timing and lots of fuel.... But, i need to put a new gasket set on my miata since i have a ton of little oil leaks to fix and when i have the head off, i might as well toss in some quick rod action. |
So back to me and my thread. I was looking at the GT2871 on the Garrett site and it looks like they come in many different part number and turbine A/R's. Which one do I pick?

For street cars, a smaller turbine a/r is great for spool and the 2871 and 28RS will still have good top end power and have headroom for 300+whp. Street car and internally gated: the 64 a/r is generally chosen. Track car: 86 a/r is used. Lower egt's/ better top end. Good for cars that are constantly in boost. Hope this helps. |
