recommend me a good machinist

I need someone to send my turbine housing so they can helicoil it for me and/or do welding repairs to the bolt holes.

All the threaded holes on the downpipe side were either stripped or filled with melted debris from the bolts tearing off their threads. One of the bolts snapped off, as you remember.

I drilled out the snapped off bolt and then helicoiled it. I did a decent job, though I probably should have tapped deeper. I decided to do the other 4 holes so this problem wouldn't occur.

I ran into problems in the second hole. The tap wouldnt bite at all and then went in crooked. I've ended up with a mangled hole that I can't helicoil.

I haven't touched the remaining 3 holes.

This blows, help me.

You have to have someplace local. Open them yellow pages man.
Any marginal machine shop, or better auto shop should be able to help you out no probelm. or anywhere that repairs big trucks or construction equipment.

+1 Even the worst machine shop can handle this one.

Hell, stop by a vocational technical school auto shop. I'd bet any autobody shop would do it for you too. They repair shit like that all the time.

or buy a used housing on ebay and swap them out. usually between $20-50.

Ok, everything is helicoiled. Dropped it off at a local place over lunch, had it back in a few hours. They did a much better job much faster than me.

It's not fair; they have all the good tools.

Wow, it is all back together. So awesome to have bolts just smoothly go in with no resistance.
