resonator for 3'' exhaust
I'm having someone make up a left exit cat back (or downpipe back) exhaust. Now due to size constraints and not having the cross over area at the back of a car to put a nice resonator/muffler, these seem to be my options.
What have others done for muffling a left exit while making it fit next to the transmission? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-14419/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-11219/ I drive the car on the street and the local track has a 96db limit and the AutoX pad has a 92db limit. I think it's going to be too loud for AutoX... :noob: |
both of those together would make for a decent sound.
|
damn. didn't feel like spending money on two. if I just got one, I would assume to go with the larger?
|
one of those is a muffler?
can you afford two of these? http://www.summitracing.com/search/B...c&autoview=SKU |
I can afford anything, I'm just a cheap fucker who dosen't like spending my hard earned cash.
I can get two of those for sure. And it seems like that will have no problem clearing. Would you run them one right after the other or space them out a bit? |
what's the difference between all 3 of those? Just length?
|
you go with one it will be fairly loud.
2 just right. anything more (or bigger sizes of either) will also reduce sound quite well |
Ansa silverline is all you need.

"loud" is relative. one mans loud is anothers silent. for me I wanted something really deep but barely louder than the stock muffler. I got very close to that with a 26x8 magnaflow like brainey and many others are using. surprisingly I didn't even need a resonator.
Here is a clip (though its hard to tell from the shitty quality) http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g9...h_MVI_0175.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g9...h_MVI_0084.jpg with a single like the one you posted it will be SIGNIFICANTLY louder. you decide |
Lets just put it this way. No way in hell I'm running something as big and heavy as Brain's. It's a track car and I'm JUST trying to get past sound restrictions. That and not raspy is all I care about. It can be loud, just not raspy loud.
I also drive an FD RX7 with a straight through exhaust to an HKS super dragger exhaust... so I'm used to LOUD! :D... lol |
ya, so neither of those you posted I would consider "loud"... louder than average... yes but not undrivable obnoxious loud. I think I'll give the XR1 a go. And if it's too loud I'll add a dynomax.
|
Oh mine was not loud by any means. So if that is "quiet" for you then don't even bother with any resonators.

Can I convince you to just do a regular right exit? This setup sounds perfect to me and since we're the same age I think you'd like it too.

I have a new one of these sitting in the box in my garage if you want to buy it:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-14419/ I also have a new 6" dia x 18 magnaflow muffler that I've decided not to use. In addition, I have my old (yet practically new) Enthuza 3" NB turbo speeder with about 500-1000Km on it. Though you don't have an NB. I seem to have accumulated a bit of a collection. I ended up going with a gigantic Y8S approved 5x11x22 custom made 3" Enthuza. Jason did an excellent job. |
i run a 2.5" turbo back with a high flow cat NO muffler and i dd it no problems its still quieter than the pos civics with thier rice cans!!
