Ebay turbo ??
Ok new forums and to miatas. I was a VW guy and im picking up my 91 miata next week. I for sure want to turbo the car that is why im buying one. I’m also pretty sure i want to us MSPNP. I think im going to buy a greddy kit but im not sure. Does any one know what the deal is with this kit.

Problem with the Ebay kits is the knockoff Chinese GT turbos. They are junk. And some of them aren't even 'authentic' Chinese GT turbos, they're knockoffs of a knockoff and are even worse.
Since the bulk of what you're paying for is a turbo that should go right in the trash, I'd avoid it and piece the kit together- all that stuff can be bought off ebay individually and then you can get a real MHI 16G, Big 16G or Evo 16G for under $600 from any legitimate turbo vendor. You may spend a bit more doing that, and your manifold is still going to be questionable, but who wants to R&R their new turbo after 500 miles?

The bad thing about the greddy is there are known problems. The good thing is they are known and can be dealt with.
Make sure you change out the mounting hardware, tighten the wastgate actuator arm and do the relief cuts.
The problem with the kit you show is that the problems aren't known, so difficult to avoid.

Everyone bashes on these "chinese" turbos, yet has anyone actually had any first hand experience with them? I say this as my friend bought one off ebay for $200 brand new. He has had it on his car for about 8 months now with 0 problems, boosts fine, seems to make some decent power. Its a T3/T4 Hybrid so lag is apparent, but the turbo itself is fine. For the price, you could go through 2 chinese turbos for the price for a "real" turbo.

I'm speaking specifically of the 'GT' copy of the MHI EVO 16G, I have no idea about Garrett clones but the GT 16G has been proven to be junk time and again. Not only that, the GT 16G retail isn't cheaper than the real thing, it's the same, they offer it as already having a ported turbine and with a 34mm flapper, that's supposed to be the selling point over the real thing. The knock offs of the GT 16G are worse, they are sold by SSAutochrome and some others, these ones are about half the price.
People have taken apart Chinese copies and found them to be inferior in many ways, including compressor blades being different widths- I'm not sure I'd trust a compressor wheel like that at over 100,000rpms- maybe you would. A real MHI turbo will last more than 150k miles. I know, I've done it.
Again, I know nothing of the Garrett stuff but I wouldn't trust it after what I've seen of the MHI copies. Could be different factories 3000 miles apart, maybe one has better QC than the other but when we're talking about my money and time I'm not going to **** with it.

$1400 and you have a questionable turbo that needs a rebuild. I bought my greddy kit used (only 7000miles on the setup), 100% ready to run 8psi with a bipes, vortech (sold to by a BEGI, made $15) boostgauge, I/C and piping. Was able to bolt it all in. I paid about $1600 for it. I've since upgraded a lot of it.

First i have not asked this question any where else. Just to the guys that would know (you guys) Second there is no buget limits i want to do it right the frist time and not cut any corners. My first thought was greddy kit with a IC kit from some where and autozone rx7 550cc injectors which are 48 buck each along with the MSPNP with the AFM removed. I want to pu the stock motor at the most it can handle. Which seems to be around 250 hp and 250 lbs.

If you dont have to many budget constriants buy a kit from Begi, or FM preferably Begi. Talk to Corky and he can walk you through what you want. The ebay kits are great i run a version of one but they are more for the budget concius than the no holds barred do it once and be done setup. Stock motors have been known to run 300 whp for a pretty good time. the rear and the tranny is a different matter.
